Sarah Palin’s decision to deliver a speech in Colorado the same day as the first GOP presidential primary debate does not signal that she will not run in 2012, says an official with Palin’s PAC.
“It has nothing to do with a decision [about running for president in 2012]. The Governor said the other day that she will make a decision about that in the coming months,” Tim Crawford, the treasurer of Palin’s PAC, told National Review Online.
Palin will be the keynote speaker at the Colorado Christian University’s “Tribute to the Troops” event, which the university describes as “a military and veterans appreciation rally and charity benefit.” The benefit will be held in Lakewood, Colo. on May 2, the same day Politico and NBC News have scheduled the first GOP debate at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
There shouldn't be a single Republican candidate that participates in ANY debate that is hosted/moderated by NBC News and Politico.
Republicans should commit (read: collude) to participate only in debates that are hosted and or moderated by organizations that are at least neutral to conservative ideals, and perhaps even committed to conservative ideals.
IF NRO held a debate, and posted it on YouTube or Livestream, it would probably be as successful and certainly more informative and probative than anything found on one of the broadcast networks.

OMG! The prospect of a GOP debate where the candidates were apt to get questions thrown at them from the RIGHT? WOOHOO! I'll order the hoagie tray now.
Really. I am tired of Katie Couric types asking questions like, "Are you in favor of cutting spending...[and ruining the lives of countless minorities and women]?"
As for Mrs. Palin? She ain't playing any silly reindeer games unless she wants to. That is the M.O. Get used to it - it's barely news.

Sorry...about this nugget...
What would it cost for National Review to organize and host a GOP primary debate - telecast (at least on C-SPAN) or webcast?
Pick a number and start a donation drive. I'll kick in some cheddar the first day.
Get started soon, though. Time's-a-wastin'!
(Awesome side effect...the RINO's would be tempted to skip the debate, but would do so at considerable risk.)
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI would not consider voting for any Republican who does attend a Politico (MSNBC's web brigade)/NBC "debate".

I agree with you completely, Scott. The Reagan Library ought to be ashamed to host such an event considering the moderators.
Whether purposeful or not, good for Palin sitting this one out.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseA Palin campaign would be a gas. No Karl Rove "svengali" campaign consultant, no Frank Luntz trying to "massage the message." Imagine a candidate willing to win or lose based on her own principles, and her ability to articulate them.
Win or lose it would be fun to watch.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseA brilliant political move by Palin on several levels.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI agree with nohype. Why sit on stage with 5 to 12 lower tier candidates? Watch the replay of the debate. What are the money issues that drew the most questions? What weak spots did anyone show? Any good ideas that she can co-op? Heck, let the weakest get weeded out first. After the third or fourth debate set if she decides to step in you don't think they'd tell her no, do you? Remember, game gets spooked, not hunters.
