From Politico:
President Obama Staying In Background On Deficits
Fancy that! Part of a continuing series:
President Obama Staying In Background On Middle East
President Obama Staying In Background On Nuclear Reactor
But:
President Obama Staying In Foreground On ESPN
If you value your safety, do NOT get between Obama and a television camera!

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe Middle East is in melting down, and Japan is fighting for its life. And the President of the United States, the head of the most powerful nation on earth, only shows up on television to fill out his NCAA bracket.
This is beyond shameful. It's irresponsible. It's disgusting.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWith any luck the only place we'll be seeing him is on the side of a milk carton.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt is taking a while, but slowly the American people are going to figure out two things about this: 1) that he is so far in the background about all the important stuff as to not really be there at all being in over his head (empty suit syndrome in effect) 2) that he is also far in the background about all kinds of things because he doesn't want his filthy hands to appear any dirtier, like from running a racist Department of Justice, and little things like that. At some point, this will all come together, meet in the middle in a perfect storm and he will be BUSTED. The game will be up.

Yes, but is it also a manifestation of narcissistic personality disorder? Terrified Americans want to know.
Ben Smith seems to think its a possibility:
"During the 2008 campaign, Hillary Clinton suggested that if the emergency phone rang at 3 a.m. in the White House, you wouldn't want President Obama picking it up...She was wrong. Obama wouldn't pick it up in the first place. He'd let it go to answering machine. He'd be too busy chasing the nearest camera...Obama is the "Girls Gone Wild" president: Stick a lens in front of him and he'll take off his shirt, mince about like a coed, and babble nonsensical nothings to an audience oddly fascinated by his antics...Obama's desperate need for attention is clearly a psychological condition. He drinks in applause like a washed-up movie star..."
More:
"...Obama is an elitist through and through, disdaining ordinary Americans as "bitter [people who] cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them." He is manipulative in the extreme, seeing every crisis as an opportunity to magnify his personal power...Most dangerous, he requires a constant stream of paeans to his persona. ...With one exception: Obama has no interest in the attention or praise of Americans who challenge his radical agenda..."

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseObama is always the last to weigh in on important issues.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAnd the first to respond to frivolous issues .
His first year as president , Obama held a party at the White House
every third night as noted by David Limbaugh
in " Crimes Against Liberty "
- Chapter 1, footnote # 66 .
He ignored General McChrystal for months until General McChrystal finally went public in the fall .
This embarrassing revelation prompted Obama to leap into action and dither
until December on making a
decision on a troop increase for Afghanistan.
One would think that his duties as Commander in Chief would always trump
his ESPN duties, but, apparently not.
Perhaps he thinks he was elected president of Sports Center.
I guarantee that Obama could not name a single battalion or locate a single FOB
in Afghanistan.
He can , however , tick off the latest injury reports from the NBA and NCAA teams ,
while ignoring the daily casualty reports
from the ongoing
combat operations in Afghanistan.
Maybe if our service members sported NBA type uniforms and colorful Nikes,
it might get his attention.
Even Michelle has publicly noted Obama's lack of attention to his formal duties
when she gave an interview to the New York Times in March 2009
and to Barbara Walters this past November.
In both interviews, Michelle Obama reiterated that Barack is too preoccupied
with her clothing and she often tells him
" to stay out of my closet "
and do something useful .
Have we reached the point where Obama's focus
on leisure activities has gone beyond
a personality quirk and become dereliction of duty ?
America, your President is mocking you, again.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHow long can the media keep selling the illusion that this "deeply" shallow affirmative action shirker is a big brain with a fine education and temperament? Without his Alinsky playbook and teleprompter he's a stumbling fool. Anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention to more than skin color and pant creases can see this.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI would like to take this opportunity for saying thank you to all my fellow Americans who elected this sycophant-Obama.The problem is that in 2012 our fellow Americans will probably put him back in office. They really cannot see beyond their own delusions. Unfortunately delusions eventually clash with reality and then just maybe our fellow citizens will wake up from their somnolence. It is true-we see things not as they are but as we are. I'm worried about our country.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis illustrates why the Republicans have to refuse to pass even the most modest and short term bills to keep the government running. The whole mess is going to have to fail completely before barry pays any attention.
