Again, What $20 Billion Offer?


Democrats continue to tout the existence of an offer from the White House that contains an additional $20 billion in spending reductions — some in the form of discretionary cuts, some in the form of “savings” to mandatory programs — and have accused Republicans of stalling negotiations by refusing to accept, or even respond to the offer.

But GOP aides contend that they have yet to see the specifics of the alleged offer, despite Democratic claims to the contrary. Furthermore, White House press secretary Jay Carney refused to acknowledge the existence of such an offer during today’s briefing:
