Rep. Louise Slaughter (D., N.Y.) apparently missed the memo about making political dialogue more civil.
“In 1994, people were elected simply to kill the National Endowment for the Arts,” said Slaughter yesterday. “Now they’re here to kill women.”
In case that wasn’t offensive enough, she used a Nazi comparison.
“You are allowed to have an abortion if you have been raped or it’s a matter of incest. However, you have to keep a receipt. Did you know that? It’s sort of like an old German Nazi movie. Show me your papers,” Slaughter said.
Darn it, Louise Slaughter is just too smart...she's found me out..the jig is up. She finally figured out that I joined the GOP because I am a woman-hating Nazi bent on matricide! And Lincoln too!
Here's an example of how we and especially the actual GOP politicians on the Hill miss the point a bit. The outrageous thing about Rep. Slaughter's comments isn't that they are hypocritical regarding the supposed standards of civility Democrats expect. That meme is weeks old and the hypocrisy was immediately transparent.
The outrageous thing is that she and Harry Reid and other Democrats are LYING about the GOP's attitude towards women's health.
This is precisely the time for Boehner to make an angry speech about the opposition's dishonesty and how outrageous it is to suggest the GOP doesn't care about women's health. It wouldn't hurt at all if he spoke about his own concern for the female members of his family, as I would expect he'd get a bit choked up in the process.
Every time you read a Tweet or comment cracking about how much the GOP "hate women" or "want to kill women" remind yourself that those poisonous little flowers were seeded and germinated by irresponsible dishonesty from the left. Answer it. Every time.
Great stuff! Is she talking about defunding Planned Parenthood? Because I thought that issue had nothing to do with abortion. I guess The Caucus in the House isn't as effective at keeping its people on message as the Senate version, as unintentionally disclosed by Senator Schumer the other day.
Amazing. This from a representative of the party that insists on political correctness with respect to Islam -- a political ideology masquerading as a religion that exhorts its male adherents to LITERALLY KILL WOMEN to preserve their "family honor."
Here's another example of the stunning lack of self-awareness on the Left. At the risk of becoming a johnny one note on the issue, look at the unintended self-parody here. It is like this woman has been off the planet for the last two decades and missed all the jokes.
If I wanted to create a parody of a liberal pol, I'd have her saying stupid stuff like this. Yet this moonbat thinks it something clever and new.
Let 'em whine. Why? Because they know that we know that defunding outfits like [un-]Planned [avoidance of] Parenthood is but a single step towards the greater goal of making abortion impossible, if not illegal, throughout the land.
Yes, that is our goal. Yes, this is a step in that direction. No, succeed or fail, this will not be the end of it.
Why are any of us surprised by what Slaughter says. As for responding to it and to Reid, I agree, but in a different way.
Remember, the Left makes these accusations in order to control the narrative If Boehner is to respond he should do it in such a way that only points out the lies and the ludicriousness of it, not to be on the defensive.
1. PP doesn't offer mammograms. It does pap smears but we seriously doubt that they will be unable to do any. (See #2).
2. Apparently PP makes a profit and can get private folks who support them to help make up any differences there may be.
3. The budget is about cutting and this is something that has to be cut. The Taxpayers' money is being used for fraudulent and criminal activity as shown by the stings that Lila Rose did.
4. Do the Democrats want to fund our troops who are at war or not? PP is not "essential". Our troops are.
Any time a politician compares their opponents to Nazis or suggests that those opponents would like to kill a certain portion of the American public they should be fired (of course if we did that then the ranks on both sides would be pretty seriously depleted).
The big question, of course, is how many of plain ol' working Americans who aren't particular interested in politics are finally getting tired of the cr*p coming from the mouths of the Dems?
They aren't arguing rationally (not that they ever have)--everyone who disagrees with them is a Nazi or they want to kill women or they want to starve children or they want to throw grandma out onto the street or they want to pollute the air, water, and food, blah, blah, blah.
I think (I hope) the great multitude of taxpayers are finally seeing through it all and can't wait for Round 2 of cleansing Washington, D.C. of the lunatics who are spending us into oblivion.
We should be encouraging them to go further and further out with the demagoguery, which they are already disposed to do because it is the only weapon they have left and they fear that too much may not be enough.
Have more faith that they are not reading the public correctly and it will backfire. Rep. Ryan knows that the right way to get Americans on your side is to give them some credit for common sense. The rest of us should do the same.
The same services that Planned Parenthood offers, plus more and better services, are offered by healthcare clinics around the country. People act as though PP is the only medical provider that performs women's healthcare services and that it performs them for free. It does not perform women's healthcare services for free except for those women who are eligible for free healthcare services. And women who are eligible for free healthcare services at PP clinics are eligible for free healthcare services at other healthcare clincs. The number one service, and the most lucrative service, PP provides is abortion. That's why the name of the organization is Planned Parenthood and not Women's Healthcare Services. Inc.
If she's not even sentient enough to realize that inane rallies like this give her no political benefit, budgeting is just beyond Ms. Slaughter's cognitive capacity.
She's the genius behind the deem-and-pass embarassment during Obamacare.
And you, Ms. Slaughter, are determined to continue killing babies.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSurely I'm not the only person who sees the irony in someone named "Slaughter" giving a speech for the right to abort babies?

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseOne thing the left is very sure of - its talking points. There is little else for them to be sure about.
Planned Parenthood does not care about the health of the women it purports to "serve" - it cares about its bottom line, which is abortion.
