Conventional Beltway ‘Wisdom’ on the Budget Deal, Cont’d

by Peter Kirsanow

Is it permissible for conservatives to be upset that they were promised a return to 2007-level spending, but that morphed into a $100 billion budget cut, which shrank to a $61 billion reduction, which dwindled to $38 billion, which shriveled to $352 million, and now might actually become a spending increase? Or should conservatives just be sophisticated enough to understand that we control only one house of Congress and this is politics as usual?

Bonus question: What political consequences, if any, might such overpromising and underdelivering have?
