Wonkette Vs. Papa John’s

This has been developing all day, but here’s the state of play: Wonkette posted a tasteless piece this morning making light of Trig Palin’s developmental disabilities and accusing Sarah Palin of using the toddler as a “political prop.”

An industrious Tweeter noticed an ad for Papa John’s pizza appearing alongside the post, and pointed this out to the company’s PR team. Papa Johns in turn said they had “taken steps to make sure our advertising doesn’t appear on that site in the future.”

Wonkette’s response to the Papa John’s move has been . . . well, not especially conciliatory:

I’ve reached out to both Papa John’s and Ken Layne, editor at Wonkette, for comment on the situation and will report if/when I hear back.

So the bottom line is that if you give Wonkette money and keep your mouth shut, you're okay; otherwise you're an evil hater.

Life is so simple when you're a liberal.

Isn't "Wonkette" a, y'know, guy or something? Can you say "mendacity as a career"?

I just decided what the kids and I are having for dinner tonight.

When the left organizes corporate boycotts, it's a pointless shakedown operation. When the right does it, they're standing up for decency and The American Way.

It's called hypocracy and no side has a monopoly on it.

I don't order pizza very often, but all of a sudden I've got a craving for Papa John's. Think I'll pick up a pie on the way home tonight. Go Big Papa.

Later,

Joe

I'll do my part and order a Papa john's pizza to offset any wonkette-ite who skips one.

It's a sacrifice.

So "Wonkette" is a guy now? From what I've seen of this site it seems mostly populated by juvenile, spiteful gay men--or am I confusing this site with gawker?

The only people who used Trig as a political prop were the "regressives" who tried to insinuate that the Palins showed their "simpleton" true colors by not aborting him (out of offense that they did not), and Andrew Sullivan, who claimed the child as Bristol's.

"Wonkette" just boosted Papa John's business. I hate their pizza, but I'm getting a couple larges!

Yet another hair-brained "regressive scheme" that promulgates what it attempts to eliminate!

Wonkette gets its knickers in a twist about the "use" of Trig? Heh! Then taking them at their word: Pot meet kettle.

Wonkette appears to have an exagerrated idea of its influence - though the spontaneous Buycott indicated here suggests that PJ will be the winner...

Frank1914:

Your comment might have meant something if anyone on the Right had organized a boycott of Wonkette (or something, not quite sure what you are getting at.)

Isn't it amazing that the new captcha thing had me type in "red herring" in response to Frank's post?

I will be ordering more pizzas from them now.

I will order one now, in fact.

The left is really coming unhinged. First the KOS kids attack Ryan using his dead father, then the pathetic "Wonkette" sinks even lower.

I have to laugh though at this "boycott". The number of pizzas ordered just today by Conservatives will exceed the total lifetime pizza consumption by "Wonkette"'s miniscule readership.

Huggies just announced they will pull their advertising too.

Guess I will have to pick up a few packs after my Papa John's run tonight.

Ah, that's not the half of it.
The post also implyed that Todd Palin...oh never mind.
It's not even worth repeating the slander and lies of these Progressives.

The March of Dimes just pulled their advertising as well. I suppose Wonkette will now attack them, too.

I imagine the March of Dimes people were horrified.
