A few thoughts on Superman’s renunciation of his U.S. citizenship:
- Who cares? No one reads comic books anymore anyway.
- Last year I read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and the contrast between the novel’s depiction of comic-book superheroes battling the fascists during WWII and the current Superman who “appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime” is hilarious.
- If he doesn’t have another citizenship somewhere else then he’s an illegal alien wherever he is in the world.
- Along those lines, my colleague Jerry Kammer notes a Mexican corrido ballad entitled “Superman Es Ilegal.”
