Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D., Fla.) “explains” the Democratic “plan” to save Medicare from impending bankruptcy: Step 1) Demagogue the Ryan plan (it “throws seniors to the wolves,” etc.), Step 2) …
Smith: But the Trustees also said a couple of Fridays ago that this thing (Medicare) could be insolvent in the next decade. Doesn’t something really dramatic have to happen, and as the Congressman suggested, Republicans have a plan, do the Democrats have a plan?
Wasserman Schultz: Like I said, the Republicans have a plan to end Medicare as we know it. What they would do is they would take the people who are younger than 55 years old today and tell them You know what? You’re on your own. Go and find private health insurance in the healthcare insurance market, we’re going to throw you to the wolves and allow insurance companies to deny you coverage and drop you for pre-existing conditions. We’re going to give you X amount of dollars and you figure it out.
As conservatives and potentially Republicans, we should all feel blessed by the choice of Debbie Wasserman Shulz as DNC chief. This job seems to be, as the noble Obama has stated on important issues, "above her pay grade".
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou forgot Step 3) Profit!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHow many lies can she squeeze in?
And God forbid people should be allowed to "figure it out" for themselves!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHere is a clever montage of DW-S's fancy footwork with fact-free rhetoric. Her motor mouth never misses an opportunity to hurl inflammatory vomitus.

And there was no follow up question?
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse"We're going to give you X amount of dollars and you figure it out." What a unique idea. Individual Americans being allowed to use their money in a way that works best for them rather than being treated like part of a collective unit for which one size fits all and the government decides what size that is.
Americans have always taken care of one another, with or without government involvement, and that is not going to change. Democrats claim seniors will be left to die in the streets if Medicare is restructured, but have "no comment" about what will happen to seniors if it's not.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis is why we need to be more forceful about asking to see their plan.
After defending the details of the Ryan plan, all members of the Senate and House for the Ryan plan should be saying something like this:
Sometime in the next decade Medicare will be bankrupt. We have proposed a plan to solve this issue. If they think our plan is so bad, where is their alternative? Until they have one of their own they should stop demogagueing our plan.
Until they come up with one, they should keep asking. And if they do come up with one that actually has an impact, great. If they come up with a phony plan, that is fine too. Ryan would be able to make youtube video out of it with his magical charts comparing the two plans.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFor years, Ms. Wasserman Schultz has been one of the uglier leading Democratic Partisans offering nothing but disgusting garbage.
In the evening way back, before Nancy became the Speaker, she would use C-Span and Congress to offer pure big fat lies to the public.
How do these deceitful frauds sleep at night? Franken, Schumer, Waters, Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Obama, Rangel, Frank, etc.
They all have to know they are being dishonest, no one could truly be this ignorant, it is truly an American tragedy - a full blown swindle of massive proportions.
And they must believe the American Public is stupid, completely without a brain.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt's not a question of how they sleep at night, but how stupid voters are who keep sending them back to Congress. Instead of focusing on bad reps, more effort has to be made to enlighten the dumb and distracted. There are no victims, only volunteers.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseDid you expect anyone on one of these "informative" news networks like CBS, ABC, or NBC to actually challenge her?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis is about propaganda, and the election cycle is on.
Looks like the Democrat Party still has a problem with "bimbo eruptions".

YEAH, the pitiful part is that this scary, scary argument apparently works on Democrats.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt might have been a devastating video, if it had rolled on and shown that she didn't have an answer to the question. But as it is, all we know is that she started out by attacking the Republican plan. It proves nothing. Either someone has performed some very bad editing, or there was nothing wrong with her full response.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhat does she think Medicare D is all about? It's a senior making his/her own choices about which drug plan they will use based on medical needs. It has also been very effective because the insurance companies have to compete with each other keeping costs in check.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abusethe reason why dem and liberal supporters beleive this stuff is because they really DONT have a mind of their own and can not think for themselves (and the dem politicians know it). Control of the people= guarenteed votes (witness indocrination in schools). The Dem party has always been the party of slavery (historical fact)and will always keep supporters enslaved. sad part is that half of America really doent mind being enslaved.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseDemocrats have a plan to gain advantage in the next election, then blame Republicans when Medicare goes bankrupt. With George Soros buying influence in most media companies and PBS, they think they can change the subject when Medicare is insolvent
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe Medicare Gnome:
1. Demagogue the Ryan plan
2. ?
3. WIN ELECTIONS!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis woman is such an imbecile... I'm so happy the Democrats made her head of the DNC. She's going to make Howard Dean look like a Mensa member...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhat a novel idea? Let people choose the plans they want. NOT what they are ordered by our government to purchase.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseCan you just imagine what it would be like to have freedom of choice? No governmet telling us what we need and what we have to purchase, and how much?
I long for that Country. Wonder where we could find it?
The Progressive's dirty secret is that before government took care of people, people took care of people... and they did a better job.
