Palin Planning Iowa Visit

Sarah Palin’s bus tour will head to Iowa next month, reports RealClearPolitics’s Scott Conroy. If you’re hoping that Palin runs in 2012, start praying that the Palin children are enjoying the current bus tour jaunt through the Northeast, because it sounds like that will be the deciding factor. From Conroy:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will travel to Iowa next month as part of her nationwide bus tour, two sources with direct knowledge of the plan told RealClearPolitics.

Palin’s trip to the nation’s first voting state — where she has not yet set foot this year –will further escalate the already feverish speculation that she is leaning toward a White House run.

Though Palin has insisted that her “One Nation” bus tour — being kicked off from Washington over the holiday weekend — is intended merely to “highlight America’s foundation,” RCP has learned that the road trip was designed as a test run to find out whether she can execute a decidedly unconventional campaign game plan.

Palin — and especially her husband, Todd — is said to be leaning toward running. But multiple sources said that their foremost remaining concern was whether it would be logistically feasible for their large family to hit the road together for the next several months in a prospective campaign that would rely heavily on bus travel.

Alrighty, Palin Haters...this should be Teh Easy Button for you. All you have to do is find ways to make the kids miserable and, boom, Palin is defeated!

I wouldn't expect that even you would attack the kids for political gain, though, right (see Chelsea vs. The Media)? ;) Maybe you can sabotage their X-Box or make sure they only end up with vegan take-out menus.

Or maybe the family is just doing a cross-country vacation for before summer starts in Alaska, and not running for President at all... not everything this family does has to be about running for office you know!

Yeah, because Iowa is some primo vacation territory.

(I can say that. I was born in Ft. Dodge, IA.)

Looks like Palin also had some informal talks with a prospective VP candidate: External Link

If you believe that this bus tour is about road-testing her kids, you're nuts. The purpose of the bus tour is to gauge support from potential voters and caucus-goers for her run. She can gauge that both from her poll numbers in the states she visits and from the donation tallies from SarahPAC.

If she gets the numbers she needs, she can declare her candidacy. If she doesn't, she doesn't really need to do anything.

When will the promised position papers be released?

Gullyborg: I take your comment as tongue-in-cheek (I hope). Most people don't do family vacations in a bus emblazoned with facile, sentimental images of America. Moreover, most don't use PAC dollars to pay for vacation.
