Rep. Anthony Weiner (D., N.Y.) will “address members of the media” at 4 p.m. in New York City. Is it too late to start an Intrade line on what he’ll say? Some possibilities:
-
Resigns
-
Apologizes for “careless behavior,” appeals for privacy
-
Admits he “has a problem,” will enter rehab (the Tiger Woods option)
-
Remains defiant, calls Andrew Breitbart a “jackass”
-
Announces candidacy for Mayor (more press than Romney got!)
UPDATE: Looks like he won’t resign.
Let's just hope, whatever he does, he doesn't phone it in.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseA combination of all five. If he does #1 then he's free to do #5. Win-win.
He is far shrewder than anyone gives him credit.
This will, in time, be referred to, when referred to at all, as the Weiner maneuver.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou forgot:
Blame Bush
Blame Global Warming
Blame Capitalism
Blame those racist Tea Partiers
Blame Sarah Palin
Blame Fox News
I'm starting to believe in Karma.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou forgot that he is going to have to make some mention of how Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from healtcare deform lawsuits.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse"he doesn't phone it in"
priceless!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHe's going to be taping the next season of "Jersey Shore"?
He and Bill Clinton are moving into a flat in the East Village?
He's going to Disneyland?
He's replacing Robert Mueller at FBI?
He's the new face of the P90X Workout program?
He's the new host of Biggest Loser?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSome combination of #2 and #3, with the goal of doing #5 down the road. There will be time later for #4. As for #1, no way.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAnyone know where we can watch the presser live online?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFox News has a link up at their homepage, FYI.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHe will say he wants to spend more time with a family member.
He going to work for Members Only apparel.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhatever he does, I guarantee that he will, in the course of it, take a political shot at the 'evil' Republicans in the process. It is simply not in his character to refrain from lashing out. At a minimum, even if he resigns, it will be to prevent the evil Republicans from "using" him to distract from the 'noble' work he was doing.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFormer Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY) should revoke his resignation. He's much better looking than Weiner, especially without his shirt.
