Andrew’s justified disapproval of the “perp walk” is shared not only by reasonable people, but even by the editorialists at Le Monde. The sudden re-emergence of anti-Americanism in the European press, as reported in the New York Times today, is based, as usual, not on the ideals of American principles of fairness and justice, but on their opposites: politicized prosecutors and their accomplices in the media. These displays of triumphant authoritarianism have done damage to the perception of American justice (poor Richard Jewell).
