The AFL-CIO, of all bodies, tweeted a simple question to President Obama in today’s #AskObama snarkfest: Where are the jobs?
My colleague Ivan Osorio answered for the president, “In right-to-work states.” Zing!
If anyone’s still interested, I had a few more questions people might like to retweet.
For myself, I gave up sending questions to VIPs ever since Teddy Kennedy refused to ask the question I gave him for the Samuel Alito hearing: "does this dress make me look fat?"
He did put me on his mailing list for years, though.

Of course, the real trick would be to nail one without hitting the other, intertwined as they are.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThat is a very good question considering that the Bush tax cuts have been in place all this time and yet, golly gee, all these supposed job creators who've been getting their deficit-contributing tax cuts haven't been creating jobs with them. Rather, they've been slashing jobs and taking that tax-cut money and stuffing it under their mattresses and putting it in their offshore tax havens. That's why GOP leaders try to make it seem like these tax cuts aren't in place when in fact they are. So, yes, that's a fine question -- only it should be asked to the GOP, not Obama.

Because of ....drum roll.... the total mess of Obama's "policy" as regards to business. No business knows if they will be able to borrow, nor at what terms. They do not know with certainty how horribly expensive Obamacare will be for them, and so refrain from hiring. They also do not know what tax rates they will operate under in the future, and so of course, refrain from hiring. You'd need to be a moron to believe that professional CEOs will make such staffing/expansion decisions with so many potentially catastrophic variables. Fix the business climate first!
