House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) told reporters Thursday that while the contingency plan offered by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) “may look like something less than optimal today,” it might be worth considering as a last resort.
“If we’re unable to get to an agreement, it might look pretty good a couple of weeks from now,” Boehner said. “I think it’s worth keeping on the table. There are a lot of options that people have floated and frankly I think it’s an option that may be worthy at some point.”
The speaker was asked whether he thought the plan could pass the House in such a scenario. “I have no idea,” he said.
