I could only get halfway through this before the combination of sanctimony and ignorance became too much.
Of course, this guy would never expect that someone would curtail his own freedom of expression and prevent him from uttering this load of junk, not even to save him from the self-humiliation.
I’d ask for my 3:21 back, but learning about the growing popularity of pole dancing in China was time well spent.
Kashmeri is obviously wrong about Steyn, and his call for a Commission to suppress speech he doesn’t like is totalitarian. However, before we even reach the *ahem* “substance” of Kashmeri’s screed against Steyn, why would anyone in Canada, or anywhere else, take him seriously in the first place? Unless there is someone else with his name, Kashmeri wrote a book alleging a conspiracy by Indian intelligence to bomb Air India Flight 182 in order to pin the bombing on Sikh terrorists and discredit the Sikh separatist movement in Canada. A Canadian commission instigating the bombing found no evidence to support Kashmeri’s theory. In other words, Kashmeri is a Canadian version of our own 9/11 Truthers. Maybe Kashmeri’s ill considered commission could start by examining his own writings for Anti-Indian animus?
Well, Canada doesn't have a Bill of Rights. They have and will suppress unpopular speech. Remember, Canada is not a "melting pot". It's a "salad bowl", with fruits and nuts.
Another brilliant American mind tears itself away from its obesity and shopping and television in order to opine about a country it's never visited. Love it.
Forget what this guy says. The larger issue is that wherever this aired there's a TV station that said "Let put that guy on!" and an audience that says "I like this guy! He's smart!"
Obviously he went to the same speech school as Barack Obama. Drone on pompously, get everything wrong, so long as it fits your narrative. And like any speech from the "great orator", I tune out halfway in, or sooner.
"Human lives are more important than abstract notions like unfettered freedom of expression."
Last time Americans had to hear that from subjects of the Queen, we burned their loyalist homes to the ground and watched them flee to Canada.
This nation is proof that unfettered freedom of expression is worth human life.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWell, if the Canadian commission instigated the bombing themselves, I'm not surprised they failed to find evidence to support Kashmeri's theory.

As a mobster might retort in the movies, "How would you like my unfettered fist in your abstract face?"
