Reid Delays Vote as WH Talks Continue

by Andrew Stiles

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) has decided to postpone a cloture vote on his deficit reduction plan until 1 p.m. on Sunday. He cited the ongoing talks between congressional leaders and the White House and the need to give negotiators “as much time as possible” to iron out a deal. “There are many elements to be finalized,” Reid said. “There is a still a distance to go.” He sounded fairly optimistic that a deal was in the offing, and insisted once again that any agreement not include short-term debt increase.

Good night.
