Illegal Immigration = Child Labor

ABC reported last night on a child-labor investigation at some commercial farms in Washington State, following up on an earlier report from Michigan. Of course, never does ABC mention the virtual certainty that the parents bringing them into the fields are illegal aliens, and thus better immigration enforcement would have prevented the whole thing. As my colleague Jon Feere notes, it was only when immigration authorities raided the kosher meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa, that they uncovered 9,000 child labor violations, which had been suspected but never pursued.

Apparently, Americans won’t be able to afford food unless we put five-year-old girls to work in the fields:
