When military operations began in Libya last spring, the identities, ideologies, and political affiliations of the rebel leaders were unclear.
Has your administration determined who the rebel leaders are and whether they are friendly or hostile to the U.S.? If so, when was this determination made and how?
“Libyan rebel leaders” have reportedly refused to extradite Abdel-Baset al-Megrahi, the terrorist convicted for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103. The terrorist served only eight years for the attack that resulted in the deaths of 270 people. What is your administration’s position regarding the extradition of al-Megrahi? If you support extradition, what steps, if any, are you prepared to take to secure al-Megrahi? Do you consider the refusal to extradite al-Megrahi a friendly, hostile, or neutral act?
