Weprin’s Congressional Campaign Caught Spying

by Patrick Brennan

A poll showing the race to fill Anthony Weiner’s House seat tied between Republican Bob Turner and Democrat David Weprin has apparently prompted Weprin’s campaign to try some unorthodox tactics.

The New York Post reports that four Weprin operatives have posed as reporters or student volunteers in order to infiltrate the Turner campaign. Turner spokesman Bill O’Reilly says he was hardly surprised, arguing that “only a career politician scrambling to save his hide would sink to such a low.” Turner’s campaign has tried to depict Weprin, a New York state assemblyman and former member of the city council, as a corrupt career politician.
