Spend $450 billion dollars now, it will create jobs, and I’ll tell you how I’m going to pay for it a week from Monday. If you disagree, you want to expose kids to mercury.
The President's "I reject this notion that (insert strawman)" trope continues to grate. I wonder what his reaction might be in debates next year if he were greeted with: "I reject this notion that Jeremiah Wright is a great teacher" or "I reject this notion that William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were fully justified in their violent crimes." A new parlor game.
Not being able stand Obama's voice, I caught only one soundbite before I switched to a sports channel, and that was The One claiming his political grandstanding in front of a joint session of congress wasn't political grandstanding. SHEESH!
Yea, it's those Republicans playing politics that have the country all snarled up. Our innocent babe of a president never even has a political thought.
(I had planned for several days to watch it but, at the last minute, went out for a bike ride because I knew listening to this garbage would infuriate me.)
Didn't watch. Knew he didn't have anything substantive to propose, or he would have proposed it long ago, and not in a showy speech before Congress. It almost makes me feel sorry for him. All that fancy education, that rocket ride to the top job, and the poor guy doesn't have a clue.
That guy's even more clueless than I thought. Mindless moving the deck chairs on the Titanic thing with debt funded Fed Gov dollars. Because frankly, The "One" Who Has Never Had A Real Job, does not know which way is up.
As if a few more roads to nowhere, white elephant rail projects, subsidized teachers and WiFi in schools can fix what's systemically broken.
BTW, most of the labor working on those projects will be supplied by immigrant Hispanics, legal or otherwise.
Obama's the new Hoover. Only he's to stupid to recognize it yet.
P.S. America will be totally trashed domestically, but at least we'll have 11 Carrier Battle Groups floating around to show we mean business.
P.P.S. A Carrier Battle Group and a buck-sixty-five will get you a cup of coffee when it comes to actually making stuff that other people want to buy.
I am glad there are people like Yuval around who watch this stuff and summarize it for people like me, who would rather eat dinner (I'm on central time; of course, if it had been later, I'd rather watch a ball game).
My favorite line: "I reject the argument that we have to take away workers' right to collective bargaining in order to be globally competitive in manufacturing!" Really?! How's that American steel manufacturing sector going? How many TV's wear that proud "Made in America" label? Why did we have to bail out GM/Chrysler again?
Breathtaking. Congress should pass a resolution asking him to resign. Call it the "Are You Friggin' KIDDING ME? Bill."
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhat he said!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNo, pass a bill calling for him to resign and call it "The true American recovery act"
We recover when we lose the miserable failure holding us back.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTHAT'S the speech for which a joint session of Congress was convened? SERIOUSLY????
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI watched two episodes of Family Guy instead...YAY FOR ME!

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWe have to pass this bill now so we can find out what's in it, I mean, how we're going to pay for it.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSo if I give you a cup of coffee, you'll give me a carrier battle group? And throw in a buck sixty-five?
I'll take it!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSure. Drive it around all you want.
Just put gas...er...uranium in it.
P.S. You'll still be out of work in the morning...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSo wait -- conservatives are against LEGAL immigration now, too?
Let's compare the two parties on jobs:
Dem. plan: Let's invest in infrastructure so out-of-work construction workers can get back to work.
Rep. plan: Hey, I noticed that government employees aren't sharing enough in the general unemployment, so let's fire them.

Actually, he is Jimmy Carter's second term. I said as much back in 2007, but the electorate was too stupid to realize it then.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYup. How many DEMOCRATS would vote for that plan?

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThat's hilarious, Yuval! Perfect summary.
