Lee: ‘Old Wine in Old Bottles’

by Robert Costa

“Old wine in old bottles,” says Sen. Mike Lee (R., Utah) to National Review Online, commenting on President Obama’s jobs speech. “I didn’t really hear anything new. I didn’t hear many details either, and I’m disappointed about that, given the hype.”

“We need him to lead,” Lee says. “A lot of what we heard today related to expanding government, more stimulus-type spending. I don’t see him moving in a direction that’s helpful.”

Lee says that, moving forward, Republicans will be “happy to work with him,” but “he should have said tonight, ‘Pass this speech right away,’ because we got a speech, not a bill.”
