As Jonah notes, just as President Obama’s campaign team was complaining that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R., Va.) and House Republicans “haven’t acted to pass” the president’s jobs bill — as he has repeatedly asked them to do “right away” — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) was blocking a request from Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) to hold a vote on the bill today. Here’s the video:
As Reid says, “‘Right away’ is a relative term.”
Maybe McConnell should up the ante: "I feel so strongly that the President deserves the vote he has demanded for the past several weeks that I will object to all unanimous consent requests until the President gets that vote."
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseCantor should agree to bring up the jobs bill if and when it passes the senate.
Then draft "Cantor-Obama" (like Gephardt-Bush in 1991). Take Obama's bill and add some poison pills. Make him veto his own bill.
