I alluded to this earlier but it’s really worth quoting more fully. Both in a press conference and on the House floor earlier today, during debate on the Protect Life Act, former speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that Republicans are voting to let women die on hospital floors when they vote for the Protect Life Act.
She said:
Under this bill, when the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor and health care providers do not have to intervene if this bill is passed. It’s just appalling.
Video of the press remarks here:
Pelosi is warping conscience protection for pro-life hospital workers into that appalling nonsense.
In truth, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act already requireshospital workers to do whatever is necessary to stabilize the condition of both the mother and her “unborn child” (the wording in the law) in an emergency room.
It’s also appalling nonsense to contend that it is only liberal women who can properly defend women’s health, which she also does.
Folks, shortly after the 2010 elections, I sent a letter (on paper, with my true name) addressed to Hon. Nancy Pelosi at her SF office. I noted that I'd seen her name on a plaque as major supporter of a noted performing arts facility there. I suggested that here real career was not in politics, but as supporter of the performing arts. In my letter, after titling her as Hon. Nancy Pelosi, I thenceforth referred to her as "Hon" in the body of the letter.
Maybe NRO readers would care to turn that into a movement?
I've noticed that many liberals talk about "women" as if they were a separate species. Would Nancy care if the racist fascist sexist imperialist GOP Congress made it legal to stand there and let men die?
wasn't it the racist sexist imperalist Democratic Party (JFK, LBJ) that sent thousand of MEN die die involuntarily in Vietnam, in order to support capitalism?
Let Pelosi and Reid introduce bills to abolish male-only registration for the draft.
Are any of you women? I'm sorry...but I think the only person that has a right to make decisions for one's own body is that person and not the medical staff? I thought there was something that was called the hippocratic oath to do one's duty as a medical practitioner to help save a person's life? Until you are faced with this, I really do not think you have any right to tell someone that he/she should die.
Incoherence and inaccuracy are cheap substitutes for the typical rubbish of name-calling that laces the usual liberal chop suey.
"I'm sorry"? No, you are not. (You pretend almost as well as Nanny Pee.)
Me, neither. I do not think the equipment between one's legs bears any relevance to the conclusion that NO ONE has the right to terminate an independent life in utero.
We are soon to find out, under this Act, the true measure of the wide girth of feminist hyperbole they've erected over the "life" of the woman that is at "great peril" with EVERY convenience-fueled, elective abortion.
Clearly you do not know anything about the Hippocratic oath or EMTALA. We used to repeat the Oath at graduation from medical school until someone noticed that it prohibited doing abortions. When that proved embarrassing, most schools dropped it. And contrary to what Nancy and her ilk will tell you, no one is barred from care. They are just cared for as what we call "self-pay," or more accurately, "no pay." I agree with you that no one can make decisions about what you do with your body. But unless they repeal the 13th Amendment, you cannot compel anyone to perform involuntary labor (including providing health care).
Dear FMBC: You wrote, "I thought there was something that was called the hippocratic oath to do one's duty as a medical practitioner to help save a person's life?"
In the original Hippocratic Oath, which I am pretty sure you have not read, there also was the provision that medical doctors were to refuse to provide abortions.
Pro-lifers are just fine with the Hippocratic Oath, thank you very much.
Ms Pelosi lives in another realm entirely: the poshest neighborhood in San Francisco, comparably nice 'getaway' place up in wine country, private jets coast to coast, and no need to encounter the real world.
That banner suggests that, "as a grandma" (her favorite prologue to sanctimony), San Franny Nanny is a tad confused on how things shake down in the make-believe Land of Oz.
For her edification:
The only one crushed by the run-away house was the sister of a witch.
SO: Who killed Nancy's sister?
AND: Since when is a 60's retread hag from San Fran worried about a grand ole party house, anyways?
Maybe she was never invited to 610 Ashbury, after all. ??
Her (and her ilk's) fortunes are sagging. Of course she's sour, lately. That's the far left today: Sour Patch Kids, without the dust of granulated sugar.
What she reads off her prepared notes, which appears to attack conservative positions (but instead makes Democrats ridiculous) is actually written by Karl Rove, and hacked into her staff's e-mail.
Or, even worse - those are really Democratic remarks, and the Democrats have neither the sense nor the nerve to get rid of her.
Currently the only situation where a doctor would ever be required to provide an abortion is if the woman will die otherwise. So yes, the only reason to pass "protect life" is to protect a doctor's right to let a woman die rather than give her an abortion.
Oh My God Arkansas get out of the dark ages. It's okay for teens to be molested by their relatives and then have the shame of being forced to bring a autistic baby in the world.
Arkansas is saturated with three generations of 16 year old haveing sixteen year olds on substance abuse.
Okay what about the babies addicted to crack ! Wake up planned parenthood needs to be in Arkansas and stronger then any other state.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThat is flat out bonkers. What a psycho.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAgreed, Nancy Pelosi isn't high-IQ intelligent, but never doubt that the woman is weasel-wise.

Smooches.

Marie Antoinette had nothing on Pelosi.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseMarie did, too!
She at least offered actual cake, and not food stamps to purchase a few crumbs and a stale candied rose.
Marie woulda baked it, too, I betcha!

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseKinda like letting babies die in soiled laundry rooms, right? And opposing legislation that would require doctors to provide care for them?
You mean that kind of thing, Nancy?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbusePoor old Nancy's brain left the planet long ago.

It's funny that a woman that daft is empowered by people who think they're smarter than the rest of us!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseOne counter is that Nancy Pelosi not only wants to murder babies, but use your tax dollars for doing so.
Nancy Pelosi: Baby Killer
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseLie, Lie,and Lie. No federal funding for abortions. Get your facts straight. It has been like that way since the 1970's.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis simply isn't true! I work in a hospital and people always die in bed. We do not make exceptions for pregnant women!
