I almost feel bad for the political operatives and pundits as they try to process the phenomenon that is Herman Cain. Especially those on the Republican side. They don't seem to grasp how much the base is ready for something different than the same old, same old. Cain is obviously the "one of these things who is not like the other" and scenes like that just highlight his uniqueness. This stuff is like sugar water to hummingbirds.
I've been falsely accused at work (not about anything sexual, but upsetting nonetheless) so I can tell you from first hand knowledge that your little scenario only applies to the guilty, NOT the innocent. Maybe you know more about Cain's situation than the rest of us do but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. False accusations are as common as are people willing to believe them.
Cain's "Amazing Grace" is the number one trending subject on Twitter right now.
I agree with James Pethokoukis and others; Cain probably helped himself. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Cain's poll numbers actual increase after this.
He is so obviously an actual real human rather than just another politician weighing his words and deciding on his convictions according to polling data.
Can we please get serious about nominating a presidential candidate? I am sick of the CIRCUS and thuis CLOWN.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAh yes. We've already moved on to Step 3... and in less than 24 hours!
1.) Make light of allegations
2.) Indignantly deny all allegations
3.) Admit to some minor allegations while projecting overt religiosity
4.) Full-on, tearful apologies to "those I've hurt" a la Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, John Ensign, Ted Haggard, Mark Sanford, etc etc etc.
When are they going to notice this is not a pattern that works well?
