When Herman Cain talked about what happened after he was accused of sexual harassment while at the National Restaurant Association during his appearance at the National Press Club today, he mentioned that the Human Resources department had been involved in handling the matter. Politico is reporting, however, that the woman who headed up the HR department when Cain was in charge denied last week that she knew anything about the allegations — and wouldn’t discuss the matter today in light of Cain’s statement.
I guess I should just go to politico.com for my conservative news and editorial if all we're going to get here is links to them. Sheesh.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou actually expect conservative news and editorials at NRO?? LOL
Don't forget what NRO really stands for: "Nominate Romney Or else"
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI always hate agreeing with John Galt (LOL), but here I have no other choice. This is a bizarre and probably untrue scandal, but regardless of whether this story has any legs at all, it smacks of low-budget muckracking for NRO writers to repeat verbatim whatever Politico happens to be saying.
This isn't even a top 10 news story today, but some of these folks are treating it like the apocalypse.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIs NRO really going to keep perpetuating this type of story? Do you really think that Buckley would approve of this issue beneath the National Review masthead? If there was a "real" scandal, maybe...but right now there is less substance here than any story relating to the Kardashians. K-Lo should know that gossip is not a virtue.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseLook, there's a lot of BS about this story, including that (D)s never get this kind of an*l probe. But you don't even advocating asking questions? Right now we're watching the man behave in his first crisis in front of the nation. If he can't handle it properly, or if we find out it's worse than what we know now, you don't care?
Besides, you're reading this stuff on NR's blog. It ain't their current cover story. If you can't tell the difference between the two formats, that's your problem.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhen's NRO's favorite candidate going to get the an-l probe, Colonel?
We can start with who began the whispering campaign to Politico, which is Classic Romney.
Or are some questions not to be asked regarding the lack of character of a man who wants to be President?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI thought this post at Politico was a little silly.
He could have meant the EEOC officer (usually separate from HR) and referred to them as the HR person. Politico goes and talks to the HR person who says that Cain is a great guy and she never heard of any allegations against him.
Politico then runs a headline saying are in conflict which makes it seem like the HR lady is supporting the allegations when she is not.
To me, Politico reporting on this is looking worse after their defensiveness today regarding his denial. It casts doubt on their original report.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseK-Lo must have taken a long lunch break; NRO has gone full-alert bonkers for the first time in many years, and it's all over nothing.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe NRO is pathetic trading in these pathetic unsourced, detail-free innuendos. I'm done with you guys. There are plenty of other conservative hangouts that have maintained their dignity, even if Cain or Perry aren't their choice of candidate.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseGeesh. Anything to help Mitt, huh?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseGeesh. Coming up with anything you can to help Mittens, huh?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI am also taking this site off my list. Pretty sorry to follow up on this non-story until some facts are provided from the originators of the story. Maybe it's a slow news day for you guys, but how about writing something that doesn't deal with semantics and innuendo? This story happens all the time in business where someone is paid some nominal amount of money to avoid a costly trial no matter the guilt of the accused. Have any of you spent time in a corporation ever?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseCan't wait till I get my "please renew your subscription" letter from NRO this year.
