First Thing We Do . . .

Is there anyone who thinks sexual harassment is a real thing? Is there anyone who doesn’t know it’s all a lawyers’ ramp, like “racial discrimination“? You pay a girl a compliment nowadays, she runs off and gets lawyered up. Is this any way to live?

Kurt Schlichter, who works on these cases, spills the beans in America’s Newspaper of Record this morning.

When you consider that, more than a decade ago, Herman Cain settled some unspecified sexual-harassment claims, you also need to consider that the only things you need to file a lawsuit are the filing fee and a printer. Facts are optional.

There has never in the history of the world been a people better mannered and less inclined to insulting acts of prejudice than today’s Americans, yet we’re supposed to believe that the nation is seething with “harassment” and “discrimination,” women being groped in every business office and crosses burning on every lawn. For Heaven’s sake. Aren’t there any grown-ups around?

Derb asks: "Aren’t there any grown-ups around?" Well--NO, not anymore!

It's possible that it was a complete shakedown. But what lawyer would take the case if she had NO case whatsoever? I mean does every woman leaving a job automatically get a 50K settlement if she says the magic words "sexual harassment"? I don't think so. I think you're overstating the case quite a bit.

There's a lack of facts in the case, right now it's he said/he said, her version isn't there.

" But what lawyer would take the case if she had NO case whatsoever?"

Have you never made the acquantance of a lawyer? Of course one would take it. Besides, when it comes to sexual harassment & racial discrimination, there is no such thing as "NO case whatsoever".

"It's possible that it was a complete shakedown. But what lawyer would take the case if she had NO case whatsoever?"

Seen it happen.

How does it work:

1. Cost to defend is X
2. Lawyer bringing suit can bring suit and settle for 0.1X
3. Lawyer brings case with offer to settle for 0.5X
4. Layer walks away with 0.15X (50% profit) and client without case walks away with 0.35X.
5. Business is "happy" that it only cost 0.5X instead of X.

The point isn't that there is "no case" under current law. The point is that the law is an a-s-s.

Of course there's no such thing as sexual harassment. Women exist for men's pleasure. It is only natural for them to ogle, grope, and talk about sex to women, especially women who are under their authority. Women should be complemented; this means they are attractive. If they don't like it, they should just have their husband, father, or whatever man protects them to speak to the offender and scare him off. This is the way human beings work; until another man appears and let's the 'sexual harasser' know that this particular woman belongs to someone else, men should be allowed to act like men.

All this worry about sexual harassment comes from people forgetting about the natural order of things. Men are sexual creatures, and cannot stop themselves from doing sexual things. If women don't like it, they need to stick closer to their fathers and husbands, and they will be safe. All this going out into the workplace and dressing so attractively makes 'sexual harassment' completely inevitable.

Not in politics. The harassment scam was huge during this period, with movies and everything.

Pretty easy to avoid sexual harassment cases. Just keep your eyes on the floor and mouth shut.

"Aren’t there any grown-ups around?"

No. We are a nation of adult's with the emotional maturity of a child. Which, as far as I can tell, is the goal of progressives.

Derb, let's not go THAT far. Yes, sexual harassment happens.

Thanks in part to the shoddy reporting over at Politico, we have no idea whether or not Cain engaged in it. But yes, it does exist.

Don't you know it isn't about Sexual Harassment? Its about process, how he plays their game - as if it is possible to look good wading through this stuff. The only thing you can say about modern American politics these days is that it has slightly more dignity than reality TV.

There is real sexual harrasment, just like there is real racism.
The problem is that those who seek to profit from divisions in this country have so over lawyered everything that 99% of the cases reported in both categories are not examples of real sexual harrasment or real racism.

Mark: Can you back up the 99% statement, or is that just your customary hyperbole?

I think this whole thing was a brilliant strategic move on Cain's part. If he can just get the vote from every man in this country who has ever been falsely accused of 'sexual harassment' (or who has ever worried about being falsely accused) he ought to win the election by a landslide.
