Herman Cain huddled with Henry Kissinger in New York on Thursday, discussing foreign policy with the elder statesman. According to Mark Block, Cain’s chief of staff, the former secretary of state also commented on Cain’s notorious campaign video, which shows Block smoking.
“Halfway through Mr. Cain’s conversation, Doctor Kissinger turns and points to me and says, ‘That smoking thing you did was brilliant.’ I sat there thinking, Dr. Henry Kissinger just said something I did was brilliant,” Block says. “We all got a good chuckle.”
Block adds that Kissinger was impressed by Cain’s questions. “He told him that he meets with any candidate who wants to get his views. But he told Mr. Cain that most come in and ask about what they should say on the Sunday shows. Mr. Cain, he pointed out, asked what he should do when he is president — a different kind of approach for this kind of meeting.”
The meeting, which lasted over an hour, covered a variety of topics, Block says. China, the Middle East, Libya, Iraq, and Afghanistan, among other hot spots, featured in the conversation.
Well, there's at least one person that thinks Block is brilliant. Maybe two if you count Block himself..

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseOh lighten up, this is such a small potatoes...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHenry Kisinger would support anybody who "asked what he should do when he is president."
This is so awesome! I'll be relevant again!"
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThere's no such thing as bad publicity...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHerman Cain said this is all about race.. and he is right. He only sexually harasses white women. He respects black women and married one. White men should be embarrassed how they sell out their mothers and daughters while Cain fund-raises off their harassment.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAllen, it must be difficult to see what you're typing while wearing your white hood.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWow Allen11332, I wasn't going to take your comment seriously -- I mean, it sounds like a lame attempt to disguise racism with moral outrage. But I was talking to my mother, and I thought, what can it hurt to ask? Imagine my shock when she told me that yes, 20 years ago, when she was a secretary, Herman Cain was visiting her boss; as she led him to the door, Cain grabbed her behind and said, "You evah get it from a black man?" Wow. But it gets worse. I immediately called my sister to discuss the news, but she wasn't surprised. Two years ago, Cain bought her a drink in a hotel bar. While she was gone, he spiked it with GHB. Fortunately one of her friends showed up just as she was passing out. The guys a menace. Spread the word, before he can get his lecherous hands on more of our women!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWow, after your mom get harassed by him your sister joins him for a drink at a bar? What 's up with that?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAllen, it must be tough to see what you're typing while wearing your white hood. Racist.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseMark Block needs to get over himself. I shouldn't know his name. If he was a good campaign manager, I wouldn't. His job is presenting the candidate in the best light possible and securing the Republican nomination and then winning the presidency, not letting us all know how bad-ass and brilliant HE is. The smoking ad and the handling of this crisis prove he's in over his head. The meeting and photo-op with Kissinger is another example of this guy's raging ego. The story should be about Herman Cain meeting an elder statesman and gleaning wisdom from him, not about the smoking ad! Of course, I suppose I should be grateful Block didn't blurt out something worse. He needs to shut up, get a good crisis management team in to handle the sexual harassment mess and get it behind them. And he should keep his name out of stories, unless he's running for the VP spot.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseStop crying about the Ad. It was great, and all the PC idiots crying about it are exactly what it was ment to do.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI didn't mind the ad. It got people talking. But Mr. Cain spent probably 5 minutes with Bob Schieffer talking about smoking when he could have been talking about the issues. Any time you're off issue, you're losing. A good campaign manage stays in the background. It's not about him, it's about Mr. Cain. Same thing with the photo op. Get Mark Block in the background.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseExcept he's not losing. His poll numbers keep going up. Maybe Block knows what he's doing.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseBlock is extremely unpolished, for sure. But he's an interesting character. Establishment Repubs don't know what to think of interesting characters. So they attack.
A pity.
Oh, by the way, I too thought the smoking ad was brilliant. It appeals to the vets, many of whom smoke. It appeals to the anti-nanny crowd. And it appeals to our sense of humor. Anyone who didn't find it humorous is a priss and moralist.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe smoking ad was awesome. It's like a secret dog-whistle to anyone old-school.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI guess a candidate picks up the attaboys wherever he can find them. This comes out good PR for Cain. At least the picture doesn't show Herman and Henry smoking stogies.
omg what's this, watch an ad to post a message?
