Right. It should be obvious by now that there are three things Rick Perry is able to do simultaneously: (1) Run for President. (2) Serve as governor of Texas.
I don't think his mistake was forgetting; it was not being quick enough to say, "Excuse me, the third one escapes me right now". No one would have noticed.
But the truth is, both Perry and Cain, in my opinion, showed a lack of breadth of knowledge that should keep either from getting the nomination. They were outclassed badly by everyone else on that stage.
Am I the only one praying for a DRAFT RYAN movement??? How do we get this started????? (Not joking). I mean, where do we donate to support something like that?
Probably true, but he's not the first governor to run for President is he? The impression I have had since he entered the race, is that he didn't give running for President much thought before he decided to run.
It's very disappointing that Perry performs so poorly in debates. I can't help but think it's a phobia-related blankout, similar to people who find themselves without a functioning brain when confronted by a microphone, an audience, a judge, or a job interviewer.
What a terrible liability for a career politician. And, if Perry really didn't know he was going to have these sorts of problems, what a terrible time to find out.
Yes, it's a shame that George W. Bush, William Clinton, Franklin Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Grover Cleveland and Rutherford Hayes couldn't successfully run for the Presidency while being Governor of a state.
I suspect that Perry's dose of Dutch courage was, um, a bit larger tonight than it ought to have been. Yeah, yeah, I know, everything's bigger in Texas -- still, he really needs to learn the difference between a shot glass and a soup bowl.
Rick Perry looked like he doesn't find it easy to walk and chew gum at the same time. It's not like no one else who runs for President hold another job during their candidacy.
And it also can't be easy crafting apologies for this incredibly dim-witted individual's ridiculous performance!
Would you at least admit that President's sometime have to juggle multiple responsibilities?
Especially when one of those things is the Department of Energy - which was the subject of a major policy roll out that many on this same site praised to the heavens. Look, we are not all presidential timber, and Perry needs to accept that he is one of those folks, return all those donations that will otherwise be thrown down a rat hole and go back to Texas. Please.
K-Lo,
It's also really difficult to remember the three agencies of government you'd cut if you became president.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNah, Perry can swing that. But adding a third thing would probably be too much.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThere is so much win in this comment.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhy is that exactly? The governorship is a fairly weak executive postion in Texas compared to other states.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe previous governor of Texas did it, and won - twice.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseMaybe he can blame it on that ill advised pre debate gardasil shot.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseK-Lo, I say this in Christian love: what Perry is to debaters, you are to Corner commentators.

So being governor of Texas and campaigning for president is more difficult than actually being president?
