Congressional Princesses, Republican and Democrat

by Rachel Campos-Duffy

During this week’s Republican presidential debates, Herman Cain came under fire for referring to former House speaker Nancy Pelosi as a “princess.” But the mainstream media didn’t raise an eyebrow when former Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey famously referred to GOP senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins as “the crown princesses of Maine.” In fact, celebrated it as their “quote of the day.”

So, is it that only Democrats are allowed to refer to female politicians as princesses, or that the media is only offended when the title is used to describe female Democrats?
