Herman Cain will start getting Secret Service protection, reports the Associated Press. No other GOP candidate currently has Secret Service protection.
Mr. Cain should refuse Secret Service protection until he becomes the Repulican nominee.
He is a proud and accomplished man who has achieved his position without the help of the government or some white liberal.
This is a dumb psy-op designed by the Obama administration to reinforce that America is still a racist country: Americans can tolerate a half white/half black president but not a "genuine" black man.
Without a doubt, the Obama administration is deeply afraid of Mr. Cain since he is the anti-Obama.
All Mr. Cain needs to win the 2012 election is to liberate 5-10 percent of the black voters from the Democrat plantation: Mr. Cain will be judged by the content of his character not the color of skin.
Why should lib's be the only ones that can have "knee jerk" reactions to things they read in the media? I appreciate the fact that the respondents to my posting held back on the insults while pointing out my error.
I still stand by original statement that Mr. Cain should not request Secret Service protection until he is the nominee.
I can't speak for the administration, Mr. Preston, but you're absolutely right: we Democrats are very afraid of Herman Cain. We shudder to think how poorly President Obama would do in a head-to-head debate with Mr. Cain, especially in debate dealing with foreign relations.
I agree wholeheartedly. My money would be on the guy that thinks there are 57 states, that Europe is a country, that they speak Austrian in Austria, that his home state Hawaii is in Asia, that this year is 2008, and who struggles when presented with a door and an umbrella. You betcha my money is on that guy!
There is no chance whatever that any Secret Service Agent would agree to act as a spy even if the Obama
Administration asked them to. I know a number of Agents and former Agents personally. They are all highly professional and none of them are particularly loyal to the powers that be. Anyone asking them to do something underhanded would be digging their own grave (metaphorically).
To the extent that this protection is rendered necessary by threats, that is really unfortunate.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNot unprecedented. Obama needed the same protection from racist lunatics early in the 2008 race.
Sad.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI bet all the women who work for him are breathing a huge sigh of relief.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhat are they going to do? Throw themselves in front of any incoming foreign policy questions?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAnd.... zing!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseDoes that "protection" come with a 747 and a big black bus?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI can only surmise that there is a credible threat. That is very unfortunate.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe campaign said the reason was 'skirmishes with reporters.' He just wants to keep the press out of shouting distance.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou do realize that protection has been granted because of a request from the campaign, right?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseShhhh! You know how they say it's dangerous to wake a sleepwalker? It's even more dangerous to present plain facts to the delusional.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNo chance that the Obama administration would offer the secret service but use them as spies, now is there? No, of course not...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYeah. A clandestine information pipeline into the Cain campaign is surely the linchpin to Obama's reelection strategy
Cue the bigtop circus music.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhy, pray tell, would the Obama administration need to lift a finger to torpedo the campaign of Herman Cain?
Cain is doing that all on his own.
Also, Obama, and every liberal in the entire country, would love, love, love to run against Herman Cain.

My guess is the "threat" is form the media asking Herman uncomfortable questions.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHis spokesmen almost admitted as much...
