Voters Blame GOP for Supercommittee’s Failure

Text

Americans blame Republicans for the supercommittee’s failure, according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University. Forty-four percent of respondents put the blame on the GOP, while 38 percent put it on Obama and company.

Nonetheless, voters prefer the Republican approach to closing the deficit — spending cuts only — by a 49–39 margin.

Respondents with college degrees are more likely to blame Republicans (46–37), and those without are more likely to blame Democrats (44–37). Military households are also more understanding toward the GOP, blaming Democrats by a 43–39 margin. Sympathetic too are respondents making over $100,000 per year, who evenly split between the culprits 42–42.
