Stick It to the Fat Cats

by Jonah Goldberg

I just got this e-mail from Dick Durbin:

Jonah, Romney. Perry. Gingrich. The focus is on who’s up, who’s down, who’s going to win.   But you and I know that any one of them would take our nation in a terrible direction. Billionaires and huge banks would unfairly profit. Income inequality between the wealthy and poor would explode.

I’m personally asking you to give to the DSCC now, and here’s why: There are only 10 hours until the November FEC deadline. They still have $59,000 left to raise. If they fall short, momentum will shift to the Mitts, Ricks and Newts, from the top of the ticket down.   If we hit the goal, the fight will go on.

Four seats is a tiny majority – and it’s all that’s stopping the radical Republican agenda right now. If Republicans gain control of the Senate and White House, we won’t be able to stop them. Period.

Click here to give $5, $10 or more to the DSCC. Hit the goal, and we’ll beat Republicans, stop their radical agenda and keep the Senate blue!

You know I wouldn’t ask for your help this time of year if it weren’t important. This is. Consider what our economy would look like with the Republicans in charge. That’s why I’m doing everything I can to keep our majority, and why I’m asking you to please give generously to the DSCC.

Dick Durbin

One might be tempted to ask if Durbin reads the Washington Post:

The largest banks are larger than they were when Obama took office and are nearing the level of profits they were making before the depths of the financial crisis in 2008, according to government data.

Wall Street firms — independent companies and the securities-trading arms of banks — are doing even better. They earned more in the first 21 / 2 years of the Obama administration than they did during the eight years of the George W. Bush administration, industry data show.

The Corner

The one and only.
