From the New York Times:
Donald Trump is pairing up with Newsmax, the conservative magazine and news Web site, to moderate a presidential debate in Des Moines on Dec. 27.
“Our readers and the grass roots really love Trump,” said Christopher Ruddy, chief executive of Newsmax Media. “They may not agree with him on everything, but they don’t see him as owned by the Washington establishment, the media establishment.”
This Fox News poll is a little old (September), but for the sake of context, consider this: While 10 percent of Republicans are more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump, 18 percent are less likely to do so. (Seventy-one percent don’t care.) But if you poll all voters, 31 percent say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump while only 6 percent would be more likely.
Many of the candidates have met with Trump this cycle. Newt Gingrich is slated to meet with him Monday in New York.
I don't want to spoil the surprise for those planning on being in attendance, but I have it on good authority that David Hassellhoff will be serving cheeseburgers in the lobby and Paris Hilton & Kim Kardashian will be giving lap dances in the media spin room during the commercial breaks.
The best part is when the nominees carry the torches onto the dais. Jeff Probst will extinguish one torch every 15-minutes, and the ejected candidates will fall through a door in the floor and into a pool of swimming sharks - you know, Fear Factor style.
It's gonna rock!

Don't forget adding this young Beiber Idol in the mix.

Getting more silly every minute.
Soon we will listen to some tell us how wonderful it will be, with Newt and the Donald on the Ticket.
Yes, a Newt Gingrich nomination is wonderful if you are a devotee of the disastrous Democratic Party.
Newt is the ultimate gift to the likes of the horrid Democrats, and the Donald is about as bad - at least (as far as we know) Trump didn't make some 1.8 Million via Fannie and Freddie recently.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThat $1.8 million must be very encouraging to a lot of history majors!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWho Wants to Be a Republican Presidential Nominee? 2011 has been the most entertaining, dramatic, funny, and exciting reality show in a long, long time. Some of the early episodes looked a little flat but when The Donald got on board earlier this year he really set the pace for the other contestants and set us on the wild ride we've been on all year. So I think it's more than just that Trump gets to ring down the curtain on a great season and a great show.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf you really want to be seen as the serious grown-up party that can turn the country around and get it back on track, there are a number of important things you must do.
You need to run after Sarah Palin for three years, pretending she's a real politician and not a greedy media hound. (It helps if you can convince her and her family members to do a few television reality shows. "Dancing With the Stars" would be good.) You must flock to Herman Cain, the skirt-chasing pizza guy, and make him the frontrunner in your primary race. When he fades, you anoint the atrocious Newt Gingrich in his place.
And just in case, after all that, the public still remains a teensy bit unconvinced about your grown-up seriousness, you elevate Donald Trump to party-elder status.

I would have voted for John McCain in 2008, but my voter registration application got messed up.
If this Donald Trump nonsense continues in the Republican Party much longer, I will have no choice but to vote for President Obama in 2012.
Donald Trump is a moron. Pure and simple. Google his letters to the editors of the New York Times and Vanity Fair and see for yourself. The dude can't write. He's a semi-literate. He is only successful in business because he does have the brains (barely) to hire smart and savvy yes men like Michael Cohen.
I apologize for my ascerbic and ugly tone here. But I have had enough of Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is culturally distasteful for many reasons. His endorsement would mean nothing to me, and I'd prefer he not host a debate. The entertainment valued added would come at the cost of degrading the seriousness of the election.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAt this point, we've got enough material for John Waters to make "election 2012", the movie.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse"Newt Gingrich is slated to meet with him Monday in New York."
I'm guessing it will be at MSG. Where else could you fit both those heads?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI personally think that Trump has one issue that he is so correct on, that I forgive him his grandiose persona:
China. He recognizes the idiocy of continuing free trade between the US and China.
You can't trade with thieves who cut corners and employ small children.
Trump recognizes this and so does Mitt Romney.
And, Trump won't let Newt Gingrich weasel his way out of the question of what he would do about China. No deferring to Huntsman this time Newt! Answer the question you fat weasel!

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI don't think this is a good idea. In fact it looks like a publicity stunt by Newsmax at the risk of debasing the entire field of Republican candidates. I don't think they should be getting to host any future primary debates.
And if I had a subscription to their magazine I would be canceling it right now.
