Hoping to bring Newt Gingrich’s numbers down in the polls, his GOP rivals are beginning to hit back. Ron Paul’s campaign will be airing this sixty-second version of their previously released web video targeting Gingrich in Iowa:
Rick Santorum also took a swipe at Gingrich yesterday. Referring to when the Republicans took over the House in 1994, Santorum said, according to Radio Iowa, “Unfortunately Republicans, you know, got in and weren’t able to make the kind of big changes (proposed in the Contract with America) other than the one I was involved with which is welfare reform … Other than that, we didn’t take the ball very far down the field.”
Do you remember that time when IAEA was warning us for months, even years about looming nuclear test in North Korea, and then North Korea finally tested that nuclear device and it wasn't a surprise to anyone because everyone knew it was coming?
Me neither.
You can probably find two dozen high school seniors that understand math and physics well enough to create the working plans for a functional nuclear device. If you married them with machinists, a couple electricians and some explosive experts with the right kind of HE and the minimal amount of fissile material, they could create a "bomb" in month, probably less.
If you think Iran doesn't posses the technological wherewithal to build a bomb small enough to place on a 40-foot fastboat, then you're just not paying attention.
Correct--the problem is fissile material and the delivery system. Simple bombs are dirty and big--but they aren't really all that hard. Keep in mind, the US (albiet with huge expenditures) created the first nuclear bombs in 1945. The U-235 bomb wasn't even tested--the first one was dropped on Hiroshima.
The fissile material is the big deal.
Delivery system--your fast boat driven into LA harbor.
It's votes like that that prove just what a bad Republican Ron Paul is!
If there were no Department of Education, Beltway Republicans like Bill Bennett and Lamar Alexander wouldn't have found such cushy jobs. Big Government Republicans like George W. Bush wouldn't have been able to impose centralized education policies on the entire country.
Real Republicans like Newt Gingrich know that a strong federal government is key to attaining maximum power while in office - and maximum earning opportunities while out of office.
Probably the quotes of him supporting the individual mandate for health care. Or perhaps we'll see some attacks from when he left his sick wife for a new one. Or maybe yet it will be his 13 year affair that will come out and squash his hopes. But if none of those work it will be his consistent flip flopping and big government agenda that will sink him among the "conservatives".
The Gingrich machine is becoming very formidable, because it it is self-fuelling. It is a perpetually-reinforcing monster that runs on RAGE.
Gingrich is supported by a big swath of people who are angry about everything, and all this stuff just feeds their anger. Endorsements by "establishment" Republicans... attacks by other candidates... factual reports of a badly-flawed record in the despised "MSM"... rash, stupid and conflicting policy statements...all of these simply jack his numbers up by a point or two.
Increasingly, this is looking like Newt's moment. The Angry Man just had to wait 30 or 40 years for the country to be so furious that it can't see straight anymore.
So, let me see if I have this straight: Ron Paul attacks Newt Gingrich and I see National Review quoted in the ad as well as clips from that windbag Ed Schultz's show. First of all, great company National Review!!! The funny thing is that I have always been amenable to Mitt Romney, but the shilling being conducted by some at National Review - particularly my otherwise-favorite editor, K-Lo and Ramesh Ponnuru, do nothing but turn me off to Romney. I follow K-Lo on Twitter, and I see she keeps re-inserting her piece on why Mitt's interview with Bret Baier was really a good thing. It feels so "campaign-y." It's a shame...National Review has a great heritage, but when they appear to be doing contortions to not-just pump up Romney, but also tear down Newt (a la Ramesh's piece in Bloomberg), it takes a lot of the luster off of some of its opinion-ation. Reminds me of Hugh Hewitt in 2008 saying that anyone who doesn't think Romney is the best candidate, and I'm paraphrasing, "simply cannot be taken seriously." Physician(s), heal thyselves!!!
How many people know that in 1979 Gingrich voted yes on creating the Department of Education

There's another candidate running for the GOP nomination that was in congress for that vote, Ron Paul and of course he voted no.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThat's awesome. Does the Dept. of Ed have a nuke it wants to drop on Israel?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNo and neither does Iran private Travis

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWHEW! I was so worried about it that I was afraid wouldn't be able to count my gold bars and read InfoWars today.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI don't know, it's a pretty big department...
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse@ Colonel Travis: Does the Dept. of Ed have a nuke it wants to drop on Israel?
The Dept of Ed. is waaay too busy destroying our education system.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWho writes the headlines? Santorum's comment doesn't sound much like an "attack" to me. More like a mild and indirect implied criticism.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI guess we know now why Gingrich was so insistent during the debates that the candidates refrain from attacking one another.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI wonder what kind of implosion we'll see if Paul becomes a front runner and his kookiness becomes the target of negative ads.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI should clarify... "endorsements of his opponents by "establishemnt Republicans."
Every time some sensible, formerly-respected party elder comes out for Romney, Newt gets another boost from his Angry Birds.
It's really kind of fascinating to watch, in a scary, ominous sort of way....
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWho'd you vote for in the last election?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseRight again, Filistro. Newt is George Wallace sans the racism.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhoever is creating these ads in the Paul campaign needs a raise.
