Blunt Defeats Johnson

by Andrew Stiles

Sen. Roy Blunt (R., Mo.) has defeated Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) in the race for vice chairman of the Senate GOP conference. Republican Senators cast their votes by secret ballot this afternoon at their weekly lunch meeting. The outcome is a defeat for conservative activists who had aggressively supported Johnson over Blunt, who they perceived as the “establishment” choice. For more on the race, see here.
