Paul Hits Gingrich on Draft Deferments

Ron Paul, defending his attack ads targeting Newt Gingrich today, added one new slam against the former Speaker.

After saying that Gingrich backed “all the wars in the Middle East a thousand times more than I would,” Paul brought up the fact that due to various deferments, Gingrich had not served in Vietnam.

“In the 1960s, when I was drafted into the military, he got several deferments,” Paul said. “He chose not to go. Now he’ll send our kids to war. But at that time, he said that one person wouldn’t make a difference. He didn’t know how he could make a difference. So I see that as important information people should know that and it reflects on him.”
