Just dropping into The Corner to remind one and all that Jonah Goldberg, Rob Long, James Lileks, and other NR All-Stars will be in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday, January 7, for an evening of ruminating, riffing, and debate-watching. All NRO denizens are invited, but urged to register now as seating is limited.
Joining G, L, & L will be Rich Lowry, Ramesh Ponnuru, Bob Costa, Kathryn Jean Lopez, Uncommon Knowledge host Peter Robinson, and political strategist Mike Murphy: They’ll be participating in a great program at the Radisson Hotel Manchester (700 Elm Street). The Ballroom doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the event should end at approximately 11:45 p.m. Here’s the program:
6:30 to 7:35 p.m. — Rich Lowry moderates a panel discussion, including Ramesh Ponnuru, Mike Murphy, and Bob Costa, on the upcoming NH primaries, and more.
7:45 to 8:50 p.m. — Goldberg, Long, & Lileks spend an hour-plus reflecting wisely and wittily on current events.
9:00 to 11:00 p.m. — Join us as we watch (on a big honkin’ screen) the GOP candidates’ debate being broadcast from nearby St. Anselm College.
11:05 to 11:45 p.m. — G, L, & L regroup for an encore performance of pithy observations on the just-watched debate.
Again, the event (plus food!) is free. But it’s limited (to the first 400 people). There is parking available, but that’s between you and the Radisson. And so are the drinks — we’ll have a bar setup, but we can’t buy everything, so you’ll have to handle your own brewskis.
To reserve a spot, simply e-mail nhevent@nationalreview.com and tell us the name(s) of those who will be joining us on January 7.
6:30-7:15 Rich Lowry will lead a panel discussion of people who agree with him that Mitt Romney is about to win the all-important N. H. primary.
7:45-8:50 Goldberg, et.al.will spend an hour reflecting wisely and wittily about how weak and strange the GOP Presidential field is, except for Romney. Continuous riotous laughter will ensue.
9-11P.M. A pro-forma debate will be commence. Michele Bachmann will be given only 11.7 seconds of air time, because she is short, and a woman. Ron Paul will be asked why he is the only libertarian Nazi known to exist anywhere. Huntsman will be fawned over. Gingrich will be asked, as a matter of urgent national interest, about his five wives and 11 mistresses. He will try to explain that the question is unfair and inaccurate. It will not help.
The debate will conclude with Rick Perry once again 'utterly destroying' his campaign by mispronouncing the name of the assistant deputy minister of Gondwanaland.
11:05-11:45 More pithy observations will insue about how Romney won the debate, and is now unstoppable.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhy, Richard, it's almost as though you were reading the NROniks' Twitter feeds...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhen will we know if we got in? Should I expect an email?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAs a Romney fan from the start, all of this whining about National Review being pro-Romney is getting very, very old. I think that National Review and its writers have been very fair to all of the candidates, honestly discussing each candidates strengths and weaknesses (Romney included).
I RSVP'd to the New Hampshire event a few days ago and I cannot wait to attend.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf this were so, why is it only the MittBots who are happy with National Review these days?
