Des Moines, Iowa – Via the Weather Channel, here’s today forecast for the capital:

Why it matters: “How many people turn out to vote will help drive the results. In 2008, more than 120,000 Republicans showed up, a record. Weather could be a factor in this year’s attendance. Iowa hasn’t had much snow this winter, and there were clear but cold forecasts across the state.”
And in 2008 that record crowd was despite worse weather
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIn 2008 there were two competitive races. This year there isn't much reason for Democrats to come out, unless they intend to vote in the Republican caucus.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou misread the record. It's for Republicans participating in 08. The other competitive race has nothing to do with Republican participation.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuseplease allow me to indulge in a nutjob nitpick moment:
why, oh, why do people use the weather channel when you pay good tax dollars for NOAA (External Link
)?
the second favorite is weather underground.(External Link
) which has a network of weather geeks' station info at the bottom of the page.
all of the weather with none of the political spin.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt is interesting that the record high for this day of 60 degrees in was 1880 and the record low of -21 was in 1879. It must have been from all that buying of fossil fuel back then causing rapid climate change...
No snow is supposed to help Romney because of higher turnout and hurt Paul and Santorum according to the pundits, that seems to make sense me, be we will see what happens soon enough.
