This year, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D., Fla.) faces an aggressive opponent in businessman Ozzie deFaria, a Republican candidate for Congress.
Tomorrow, deFaria’s team is launching an online campaign entitled “Stop Barack Obama’s Biggest Attack Dog!” — complete with a website highlighting Wasserman Shultz’s more infamous comments, such as that Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan is “death trap” for seniors. The site also features Rep. Allen West’s description of the Democratic congresswoman as “the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the United States Congress.”
On the positive side, deFaria plans to talk up his personal background. He is a first-generation American who, after working his way up the ladder at AT&T, left the company to help manage other firms. His campaign biography credits him with generating “over $800 million to the economy, as well as [creating] over 2,000 private sector jobs.”
But this latest move leaves no doubt that his campaign will be a ferocious assault against Wasserman Shultz. “Barack Obama is not destroying America by himself,” deFaria says in a press release announcing the site. “He is dependent upon a group of co-conspirators to carry out his radical left wing, socialist agenda. And, his lead co-conspirator is Florida Representative and DNC Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. She is the one most willing to be Obama’s attack dog.”
If deFaria’s comments aren’t enough to draw attention, the site will be. It includes an unflattering photo of Wasserman Shultz with a studded dog-collar around her neck. Such a harsh attack against Shultz is certain to cause controversy in Florida’s 20th congressional district. You can see the site here.
