Is Santorum a Threat in South Carolina?

Text

The Romney super PAC ad hitting him answers in the affirmative.

Plus, there’s this passage in J-Mart’s latest:

Unlike the compactd time line between Iowa and New Hampshire, the 10 days until the South Carolina primary at least offer the rest of the field the theoretical possibility of catching fire. As Santorum proved in the final week before Iowa, it can take only days for one of the Romney alternatives to make a move and unify the right.

Conversations with South Carolina Republicans indicate that the former Pennsylvania senator is best positioned to emerge from the anybody-but-Mitt pack.

“Folks are talking about Santorum,” said former Gov. Mark Sanford, arguing that a pre-New Hampshire Time/CNN poll showing Romney leading the state with 37 percent was inflated.
