Via Brother Geraghty:
“There are too many holes in the certified totals from the Iowa caucuses to know for certain who won, but Rick Santorum wound up with a 34-vote advantage. Results from eight precincts are missing — any of which could hold an advantage for Mitt Romney — and will never be recovered and certified, Republican Party of Iowa officials told The Des Moines Register on Wednesday.”
"Results from eight precincts are missing" Sure let's certify an election with results of 8 precincts missing. Truthfully we won't know who truly won Iowa. I was under the impression that results were suppose to be phoned in immediately after the caucus. Instead there were reports of people packing up the tallies and driving off with them.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseLooks like it's amateur hour in Iowa. It's amazing we put so much weight on what happens there.

There weren't "too many holes" when Romney 'won' by 8 votes--but Santorum wins by 30 something and it's downplay, downplay.
As it stands now, Mitt's won the state everyone knew he would win--and nothing else.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFirst on election night the appeared to vote for Mitt. Now it turns out they meant to vote for Santorum. Either of these choices are embarrassing.
If I were from Iowa, I'd have to wear a bag over my head for the next four years.
Their license plates should read "Iowa: First in bad decisions!"

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe Primary grows more fascinating.
It grows even more absurd for the Iowan GOP and quite damning for the old Caucus.
It all looks terrible for Mr. Strawn, the report reveals they just included everything (except 8 precincts) without signatures, required forms, etc. Strawn said he wanted the vote to be as "inclusive" as possible. Releasing this mess only a few days before SC?
All of the Candidates, the Voters, etc., seem negatively affected by the sincere incompetence:
"More than 100 of the Form Es didn’t comply with the party’s instructions. The precinct chair and precinct secretary were both to sign the results verified by witnesses on caucus night. But results for some precincts came in on pieces of paper other than the official forms. Many more had only one signature, or the wrong signature (say, from a county chair). Another 18 documents had no signatures at all. All were accepted, party officials said. “Some are technically perfect in every way, and some are in a gray area, but we erred on the side of inclusion,” Strawn said. “If the campaigns want to make it an issue, they can, but I want to best reflect how Iowans voted on the night of Jan. 3."
How could anyone after the fiasco in Florida, provide such a poor offering with so much time to prepare for the Caucus?
And GOP Chairman Matt Strawn heading up the recount is tainted as well, as he was forced to resign from the pro-Gingrich SuperPAC:
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse"MASON CITY, Iowa -- Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn today resigned from his position with Strong America Now after the founder’s Super PAC sent campaign mailers to Iowans praising Newt Gingrich and attacking Mitt Romney."
You thought Strawn was a hero when he ditched Strong America Now--because he was against praising Newt and attacking Mitt.
Now he's tainted because the vote appears to have not gone Mitt's way in Iowa?
My god you act just like a liberal.
