. . . in Gallup’s national tracking poll, updated a little under an hour ago. Romney gets 29 percent of the vote, Newt Gingrich 28 percent, Ron Paul 13 percent, and Rick Santorum 11 percent.
It's hard to believe GOP voters will give Obama another four years in the White House, but it seems they are poised to do just that. I'm not sure why so many folks think anger at the media qualifies a man with signficant professional and personal skeletons in his closet to be President of the United States, but it's obvious many do. Democrats are the champions of character assassination and they will have plenty to work with if Newt Gingrich is the target.
RE: "It's hard to believe GOP voters will give Obama another four years in the White House"
That is a flawed take on the situation predicated upon the incredibly shaky premise that BHO stands a chance.
In any case, how is it so hard to believe? I, for one, have been saying this nonstop for over a year. I've been insulted up and down the chain for my "childish" analysis - analysis which has proven to be pretty darn accurate.
We need conservative solutions. Romney does not hold them in high regard, to say the least.
I'll say it. From a conservative standpoint, a loss in the general election is preferable to the establishment of a Romney administration. Sure, both are bad for America, but, at least, conservatism (and the GOP that supposedly supports it) won't take it on the chin. Good thing, too, since we will need it in 2016 to clean up the mess.
Now, if you want to build a scenario in which BHO actually has a shot at winning the general election - he of maxed out constituencies and failure aplenty - I'd start by pitting him against Romney. It's would have all the magic and humor of a Lite Beer commercial featuring the eternal debate of "TASTES GREAT!" vs. "TASTES GREAT." with the added bonus of inspiring absolutely nobody to the right of center. That, there, is your best recipe for disaster, if you define such as BHO redux.

It's utterly amazing to watch the Stupid Party commit suicide -- if this trend continues.
Such a study in mass psychology and modern media, and how the discredited ex-Speaker is able to exploit this, and how voters are tricked by predictable attacks on the MSM overlloking all the personal and political baggage.
If Romney doesn't stop the bleeding, it's four more years of Obama and liberal judicial appointments that will screw us for decades.
Note that Gallop uses a five day running average. So they're still including data from last Wednesday. Wonder what their data found over the weekend.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf Republicans think Gingrich's war against the media is going to appeal to moderates and help him beat Obama they are delusional.
Americans know Gingrich and they dislike him. It won't get any better during an election campaign.
Hard to believe we may be looking at another 4 years of Obama, but it's looking more likely every day.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf Romney does stop the bleeding, not only will it be 4 more years of Obama, but he will have solid control of the House and Senate to boot.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhere are the calls for Santorum to get out of the race?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWouldn't Santorum leaving help Newt even more? I'm sure if you were to look at Santorum voter's second choice it would lean more toward Newt.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI wonder how "none of the above" would score if that choice were on the ballot too?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseLast week Ron Paul was calling for the candidates who were polling 3 and 4 in the national polls to drop out.
Wonder what he is saying this week?
