Nobody hit any balls out of the park tonight. Santorum was solid and steady throughout with a couple of nice touches but nothing really memorable; Paul was Paul; and Romney’s visuals weren’t very good but he did his usual workmanlike job. This was, however, Gingrich’s worst debate since the first or second one back in June, when he seemed irrelevant but before he found his anti-media stride. He got hit repeatedly without parrying the hits all that well. On the other hand, nobody really knocked him out, and even an off night for him is still mostly competent — so his “loss” tonight wasn’t a bad one.
