Bachmann to Run for House Seat Again

Michele Bachmann told the Associated Press in an interview today that she will run again for her House seat in Minnesota. Bachmann’s district — Minnestota’s sixth — is rated R+7 in the Cook Partisan Voting Index. Still, her frequent references to Iowa as her home state during the campaign and the number of congressional votes she missed while campaigning could provide fodder for an opponent. Last cycle, Bachmann won 53 percent to Democratic opponent Tarryl Clark’s 40 percent (an independent candidate nabbed 6 percent). And it wasn’t a cheap race: Bachmann raised a record-breaking $13 million to Clark’s $4 million.

This is my district. It's been won by the GOP since 2000. The last election was indeed expensive, with Michelle Bachmann's opponent, Tarryl Clark, getting every major endorsement of union and newspaper. Clark is a native of St. Cloud, MN, the largest city in the district. It should be said too that the 3rd party candidate in 2010 was very conservative and likely pulled votes from Bachmann. Otherwise, she would've won by 12+%. Not sure who will run against Bachmann this time but I think her odds of winning are quite good.
