Drives me nuts. Here we are, with this gift of a loser president just sitting there waiting to be thwacked 390 yards down the middle from a flawless tee box at Augusta, and what we end up with is the (R)s shanking it into the trees.
This is a very dangerous approach by Romney. Suppose Larry Flynt were to say that he has obtained some "interesting" info on Romney that he will release in October if he is the nominee. By the standard Romney expressed in this ad, he should withdraw from the race since we couldn't risk it being true, correct?
If you feel it would be credible, it would reflect more poorly on you than Romney. On the other hand, in the case of Newt, it seems highly credible that he did some very underhanded stuff in Congress. That Congress didn't want to destroy itself so it slapped him on the wrists, publically signed for a far lessor charge, and then agreed to have him resign after a period of time when it wasn't directly connected sounds EXACTLY like the kind of deals that take place in Washington.
There's a lot of smoke, but all the optics are obscurred just a bit to give you a plausible deniability. Again, what part of this doesn't sound like Washington politics as usual?
if the gop nominates a lieing liberal like romney, it will be time to find another party that is different from the democrats.
if gop voters do not realize that ALL of these attacks on gingrich are coming from the beltway beneficiaries of the beltway status quo culture of deceit, greed and corruption, then the gop is toast.
the supporters of the status quo of greed and corruption attack gingrich for only ONE reason. that reason is that gingrich could be the only person who could effectively change the culture inside of the beltway and his attackers do not want that culture to change.
gingrich is the real deal when it comes to wanting a government responsive and beneficial to its citizens.
the rest are only interested in maintaining the status quo.
so if you like the way things are going in DC now, vote for romney to ensure the beltway continues to operate the same as it has for the last six years.
Paid for and approved by Mitt Romney. There is no excuse for this kind of garbage, which can't even be blamed on an out-of-control super PAC. Romney and his supporters are exactly the kind of cross-dressing liars Buchanan called out in 1992.
Neither Romney nor Gingrich have good instincts about decorum or appearing conservative. Both are unfit and their frenetic efforts to hide it have become rather embarrassing.
I'm starting to think that the GOP is dead. It can't change despite failing the same way in both 2006 and 2008 and then winning due to the efforts of others trying something else in 2010 despite constant condemnation form the GOP. The party can't learn. it doesn't act conservative. It doesn't seem to value conservatives. It seems ashamed of the people it expects to send it money and to turn out and vote for it. It is not uncommon for it to mirror the rhetorical points of its opposition, often at the expense of its base. It is a like some twisted two headed snake trying to devour itself that is so deep in some painful dementia that it can't tell friend from enemy or self from other. Perhaps it has no true self any more..
I fear that post election it will be time for the beginning of an exodus to a third party. And I very much doubt it will be the Libertarian party since they don't seem able to get their own act together either. We are headed into the wilderness to squabble and moan while our opponents are headed into a dreadful authoritarian economically non-viable banana republic with capricious laws that take into account such things as popularity, charisma of the leadership, a cultural collectivist caste system, party allies, and cronyism/nepotism .
Is this an effective ad with Republicans? Probably not. But not all voters have the Pelosi-hatred shared by Republicans. This WILL give independents pause.
And, seriously. If Pelosi were saying this about Romney, Newt would be shouting it from every podium he could get behind.
Ah, Nov. 2010. Remember when it was nice to think we could have won big in 2012?

Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuse...and it is really, really hard to shank a driver!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis does not make me want to vote for Romney. Quite the opposite.
Mitt Romney: Nancy Pelosi's preference, just ask her.
This isn't a primary. It's the three stooges.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYes Mitt, fear of Nancy will win you the votes. What?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseSo, apparently home sales are even worse than thought possible, care of Obama.
Why is NRO flooding the zone with hit pieces on Gingrich?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou people at the corner are something else, Newt must really be getting under your skin. next you'll be challenging him to a fight after school.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI doubt it hurts Romney much, but this is a stupid ad. This coming from someone who can't stand Newt Gingrich.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFirst Tom DeLay, then Bob Dole, now....Nancy Pelosi?? Mitt, what are you doing??
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHe's losing it. Same thing happened back in aught-eight, when he started slipping behind that lukewarm comb-over, McCain.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseOh And Romney hasn't come out as recently as what a few months ago and said that why yes I beleive in man made global warming.

gingrich equals change. romney equals no-change.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuseis their a greater endorsement for a republican candidate than to be threatened by the wicked witch of the west?
