Crist Might Vote for Obama

The former Florida governor tells The Daily Rundown:

In a rare television interview, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who left the Republican Party during his unsuccessful 2010 U.S. Senate bid, told Chuck Todd on “The Daily Rundown” that he’d consider voting for President Obama in November.

“Consider? Sure, I would consider that,” said Crist. “I really think he’s sincere and genuine. I think we have a lot time, a lot of issues to talk about, but I think, in his heart, he’s trying to do what’s right for the country overall.”

Now a registered Independent, Crist also wouldn’t rule out running for office as a Democrat himself in the future.

“I wouldn’t definitively rule out anything,” the former governor said.

Did Florida dodge a bullet with that guy or what?

SHOCKING. Those of us who supported Rubio early on knew what a phoney Crist was.

I don't know that "trying to do what’s right for the country overall.” is a qualification unique to Obama.

Also, I'd think actual success ought to come into the equation somewhere. Obama has a record now, and it stinks.

Shocka! (not)

Why is there always a unidirectional slide towards the liberal side? I think that it is just one of the flaws of government service: a universal law of "progressive" entropy.

You mean regressive, right?

Well, you know what they say about lawyers who degenerate?

They become pols.

So, it only stands to reason that they'd regress leftward, especially if their entire professional careers are built on lies to begin with, as in Crist's example.

The last time NR had a real editor, he (John O'Sullivan) codified a law to explain just this: "Institutions which are not explicitly right wing become left wing over time." Think the Ford Foundation, or Hollywood studios.

Of course, National Review itself under Lowry show that EVEN insitituions which are explicitly right wing are subject to this drift. It is a question, I suppose, of personnel.

Oh, and get this:

It might snow in Upstate New York before the month of June arrives!

“I wouldn’t definitively rule out anything".

I would: this man ever regaining a shred of his credibility.

This man's convictions are more fungible than Willard M. Romney's.

He's only mildly less believable. Amazing, then, that the closest thing to Mitt Romney on that side of the Treasonous Dividing Line would consider voting against the reflection in his mirror.

Willard is the closest thing to Charlie Crist that will ever appear on a national ballot.

That's some mega rich irony.

And this was the guy the Establishment types wanted us all to support.

Like most Establishment Republicans, Crist would be just as happy running as a Democrat. For them, big govt is not a problem, as long as they are the ones who get to pass out the patronage.

>"And this was the guy the Establishment types wanted us all to support."

My thought exactly. They chose this disloyal Oompa Loompa over Marco Rubio? And we should listen to the NRC why again?

Please do not insult Oompa Loompas like that. They are loyal, hard working, efficient, and have good morals.

Moreover, they inspired the skin tones of John Boehner!

Crist was last cycle's Romney.

Hmm, wonder why conservatives cannot stand RINOs?

MarkW is absolutely correct when he points out that Crist was the darling of the Republican establishment. The "establishment" trashed Rubio and then Crist turned his back on the “establishment” and all Republicans who had supported him his entire career. No wonder average voters are reluctant to follow the "establishment's" chosen one when we frequently see examples like Crist; Chafee; and Specter. All of whom have been supported over more conservative candidates, then they turn around and depart the party taking huge caches of campaign cash, support of loyal Republicans, and then trash the very people who supported them for years. With such fine specimens of what the Republican “establishment” considers “good, solid, candidates” is there any wonder voters are reluctant to support Romney. One further thing—after Florida—only 4 (that is Four) states will have voted. Is it too much to ask that voters in the remaining 46 states (53 if you use Obama’s America) have some say in picking their candidate for President in 2012?

Ah yes, I remember clearly when the Republican Establishment got behind Arlen Spector to help him defeat Pat Toomey. People like Rick Santorum for instance. Well, at least Santorum didn't support Dede Scazzafava in upstate New York. That was the other "antiestablishment " candidate, Newt Gingrich. Meanwhile, it "Establishment Favorite" Romney who was supporting Marco Rubio.

To all the people saying "AND ROMNEY IS THE SAME"... who exactly is the Rubio in this year's GOP field? Because I don't think the lot of them combined are worth half as much as Rubio.

There isn't one, but the closest would be Santorum. It certainly isn't Newt couch-sitter Gingrich.

There is no one compared to Senator Rubio. However, when Gingrich compared himself to Rubio and Romney to Charlie the Tuna Crisp Crist...Rubio DID say that this is wrong as "Romney is conservative."

Begin RINO hurling offenses at Rubio now.

Senator Marco Rubio will be president in 2016 even if we have to draft him. I pin hopes on his waiting patiently for Connie Mack to defeat Bill Botox Nelson this fall, giving Florida a GOP Senate majority.
