Unsisterly Behavior

Mona, last night on the Ed Schulz show, Terry O’Neill of NOW, declared that Komen was simply no longer a women’s health organization. Who made NOW the arbiter of such a thing? It is such an insult to the hard-working doctors giving actual care to women who have cancer, doing life-saving research to try to get to Komen’s goal of ending breast cancer — who aren’t interested in having media wars with the abortion industry.

The arrogance of the Left is astounding. Unless we rise up and take a stand against this kind of thing, it won't stop. I think a lot of progress has been made, surely there must be more that can be done? Any ideas anyone?

So now that Komen bowed to the abortionists, is it suddenly a women's health organization again? I mean, is it all about the money? All about the abortion?

Or is that all that's left of feminism, the money and the abortion?

Harsh statement but consistent with everything we've seen this week.

Clearly, the only thing that changed was giving money to baby killers. So, you know the answer. In order to be a women's health organization you have to kill babies, or fund the killing of babies. Because, as we all know, killing babies and or not reproducing is the most important thing to women, contra all biological evidence to the contrary.

"I mean, is it all about the money? All about the abortion?"

The latter--that they make money off of abortion is just extra.

You may not be interested in "media wars," but "media wars" are interested in you. Don't you think it is time the people at NR accepted that -- and planned accordingly?

Here's what is infuriating. Komen doesn't have any money. They are a charity. They get what people give them. They have DONORS.

Why is a group that gets donations turning around and donating to another group?

If donors to Komen wanted money to go to PP, they could just give money to PP, right? We get mad because PP gets our TAX DOLLARS, and we have no say in the matter because we can't "not pay taxes". But nobody is forced to give money to Komen.

But PP is acting like they are entitled to a cut of the donations to Komen.

"If donors to Komen wanted money to go to PP, they could just give money to PP, right?"

Yes, and in fact some have done exactly that in recent days. If anything, PP has made a windfall from Komen's decision to defund PP. Now, PP stands to gain *even more* by Komen's decision to capitulate, since presumably they will get that funding back on top of what they made from raising a stink.

Good point. We've made donations to Komen in past years... until we found they were funneling money to PP. At that point we crossed them off the list where I suppose they must stay.

I have always thought NOW ("the" National Organization for Women) should be required to change its name. I am a woman and have NEVER supported its mission. Nor have any of my women friends. The organization is an anachronism.
