Via Talking Points Memo, Senator John Kerry indicates some disagreement with the Obama administration’s ruling on contraception coverage. In a statement to the press, Kerry says:
I think the Administration is working towards a final rule that reflects a reasonable compromise. I think there’s a way to protect everybody’s interest here. I think you can implement it effectively in a way that protects women’s access, but at the same time protects people’s religious beliefs, and that should be everyone’s goal.
The Haughty French-Looking Tax-Evader from Massachusetts has overlooked one small detail: the HHS rule WAS the "compromise."
We know we're on the winning side when guys like John Kerry want to "compromise on the compromise."
Forward on all fronts! Not a step backward!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI'm hearing French, but it actually sounds like good sense.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHow, in any meaningful way, are women denied access to birth control? By Kerry's logic, if my employer doesn't pay for Big Mac's, I must be denied access to MacDonald's.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHow, exactly, does one "compromise" on a core moral/religious belief?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNo one's religious beliefs are being compromised. If a religious group runs a hospital or college and or, accepts federal monies, then they must provide complete insurance coverage for their employees (contraception). If they only treat or accept Catholics in their institutions, then they do not have to provide these services. I don't see a problem here, but the media (Joe Scarborough) and others playing this to the hilt. Shame on them.
