Five years ago today, a little-known freshman senator from Illinois announced his candidacy for president. The Republican National Committee marks the anniversary with a new web ad:
The tag line of the ad says that we are not better off than 4 years ago. Really? 4 years ago we were losing 750k jobs a month and many were talking about the possibility of us going into a great depression. Now we are adding 250k jobs a month and consumer confidence is higher than it has been in a long long time.
II certainly hope the GOP makes the "are you better off" argument. I imagine Obama does as well as the economy improves over the next several months.
Previous Republican Presidents Bush, Bush, Reagan, they accomplished little beyond unfunded tax cuts that led to giant deficits. Clinton did Welfare reform, Obama did Health Care Reform and repeal of don't ask, don't tell.
The commercial says we're no better off now than 5 years ago. Of course, that's because for two of those years Bush was President, and he messed up the economy so bad we're just now coming back.
If Republicans run on such easily refuted &!@?#, Democrats will win.
This is a vanilla ad and nobody will care about it. I fear the GOP will again soft-pedal Obama for fear of being called racists. Too late, we're all racists, so go for the gusto!

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTerrible ad. This is the best you can do, GOP, with all the material BO has provided us these last several years? This? We're doomed.
