Via ABC News, Senator Jim DeMint thinks a contested convention is possible:
Sen. Jim DeMint, the South Carolina Republican and Tea Party leader told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl he wouldn’t be surprised to see things go all the way to the convention in August in Tampa, Fla. Karl asked if he thought there was room for another candidate to enter the race at this point.
“I don’t know about another candidate,” Demint said. “But we may go to the convention and decide between these candidates. [Emphasis added] It’d be hard to bring in an un-vetted candidate in the middle of a convention cause we see what this process is doing to our candidates. They’re all getting better. They’re all finding their real, I think value system. And it’s forcing them to be much more tenacious and passionate about what they believe. So anything can happen, I’ve stopped making predictions cause I’ve been wrong every time I’ve made a prediction.”
Good! Glad to see we are not rolling over and playing dead but pressing for leadership that really does stand for what we believe in. I'd rather take my chances in the general election with a man of strong convictions rather than a middle of the road-er that pundits are telling us is more "electable." We're in trouble here. We don't just need to fill the empty seat at the head of the table.

Nah. It's more like when you go to the store to buy bananas, and some of them are really green, and others are brown and squishy, and none of them look particularly appetizing, but you have to buy bananas, and so you look at this one, and then that one and think, Oh, God, what a terrible choice! It all takes a while.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe convention isn't going to matter in November 2012.
If Mitt Romney isn't our nominee will get Trump back running as an Independent or Ron Paul running as a third party.
Especially if Santorum gets the nod, Paul is definitely running against him; Paul can't stand Santorum's big government record & war mongering rhetoric.
Romney corralled Trump to the Republicans and because of the friendship between Paul and Romney I think Mitt will keep Paul in the Republican fight for the White House.
Newt or Santorum = pandemonium = Obama for 4 more years.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTrump will not run, he's already committed to The Apprentice. Paul will not run third party, he has said so.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe Rombots have given up arguing for Romney on his merits, because he has none.
Now they are forced to try blackmail.
For what it's worth, electing Romney guarentees 4 more years of Obama as well.

Is he watching the same field that I've been watching?
After a smooth start, Romney's had the wheels come off his bus, with unforced error after unforced error.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNewt on the other hand has his foot in his mouth so much he should have toe rot by now.
Santorum is only now getting any kind of media focus. WHo's to say how he'll do when the spotlight is on him 24/7.
