Speaker’s Office Rightfully Not Satisfied

From Team Boehner:

The Catholic Church and others in our nation’s religious community are not yet convinced the President’s mandate doesn’t constitute an attack on religious freedom, which has been a fundamental American right for more than 200 years.  It’s clear that these organizations were not included in developing the so-called compromise offered today. The President should take up the Bishops’ offer to find a resolution that respects all Americans’ Constitutional rights.  In the meantime, the House of Representatives, led by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, will continue to work toward a legislative solution that achieves that same goal.

Many would opine that the best "legislative solution" the House could draw up would be articles of impeachment for Obama.

But will those Dems in the senate who spoke out about the original regulation accept this compromise, or speak out against the obvious "money laundering" gimmick?

We'll see.

As taxpayers, the Catholic Bishops are fully entitled to make their wishes known to the President.

It seems the GOP is about to overreach again... According to TNR, John Boehner indicates House will take up legislation sponsored by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio that would eliminate the contraception coverage requirement for *ALL* employers! But presumably this is a fight the White House would love to have—it is no longer about the violated conscience of the leaders of Catholic institutions, but about the ability of women generally to have affordable access to birth control, which has been used by virtually all American women.

Meanwhile, Rick Santorum is wading in with all guns blazin' on this issue. And "fiercely conservative" Mitt Romney seems even more feeble and out of touch now.
